Unless and until you inquire into the universe which confronts you, Self-realization is an impossibility.
The veil of ignorance covers the Soul, the Self. The illusory universe covers the Soul, the Self.
Mundaka Upanishad:~ First we deal with the known and seen, this inquiry leads up to the unknown in the end.
Manduka Upanishad has no assumptions whatsoever. It is an honest and bold inquiry into truth. It rises above scripture.
Sage Sankara:~ VC ~293 The whole objective world is non-real.
Sage Sankara: ~ VC~63- "Without knowing and examining the universe, one can’t know the Truth, as the idea that the external world exists, won't go. It can go only by an inquiry into the nature of the external world.
Until the mystery of the universe is not solved, the Self hidden by the illusory universe will not be realized.
Consciousness is the one single reality or Brahman. The individual self is a reality within the illusory universe or Maya.
Consciousness is like the ocean. The universe is like a wave. The wave has no separate existence apart from the ocean because they are one in essence.
The illusory universe is nothing but an illusion created out of consciousness. The universe is neither to be renounced nor accepted as real nor to be destroyed.
You do not accept the dream universe to be real when waking takes place. In the same way, the illusory universe should be as accepted as real when you realize the Self is not you but the Self is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.
Look into the nature of the universe. And you will be able to see that the universe by its very nature is illusory. The moment you understand that the universe is illusory, ignorance disappears and Self-awareness arises.
Self-awareness is the state of non-dual reality. That is the state of Advaita.
Remember:~
Sage Sankara: ~ “VC~ All this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms, is nothing else but Brahman which is absolutely free from all the limitations of Maya.
Sage Sankara says you must first know what is before you. If you cannot know that, what else can you know or understand? If you give up the external world in your inquiry, you cannot get the whole truth.
A Gnani sees his body as consciousness, his ego as consciousness, and the world in which he exists as consciousness.
There is no second thing that exists other than consciousness. Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.:~Santthosh Kumaar
