The five senses (body) are nothing to do with the Soul, the Self.+

The universe is the product of ignorance. The five senses (body) are nothing to do with the Soul, the 'Self' because the Soul, the  Self is ever formless. From this standpoint, the Soul, the Self, and the universe in which the body (you) exist are merely an illusion.

The dream universe and the five senses (dream body) become unreal when the waking takes place. Similarly, the waking experience in which you and the waking world exist becomes unreal when wisdom dawns. The wisdom dawns when the Soul remains in its own awareness in the midst of the duality.

The Soul is the Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness.  Consciousness is the witness consciousness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theater, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.

The  Soul is the  Self. The Soul, the Self is present in the form of consciousness. The whole universe is illumined by consciousness. So how can the body which is inert (insentient) and illumined by an external agent by consciousness, which is present only within the waking or dream?

The  Soul or the consciousness is apart from the three states and permanent, as it endures even after the death of the body and the world within the waking or dream.

Even the subtle body consists of many parts and is unstable. It is also an object of perception, is changeable, limited and non-existent by nature. So how can this be the true self, when the body exists only within the duality (universe)?

The immutable Soul, the substratum of the ego, is thus different from these two bodies and is the true Self, consciousness, the formless witness of the three states; and it is present in everything and everywhere in all the three states and yet transcends them all.

Thus, the enunciation of the difference between the soul and the body has (indirectly) asserted, indeed, after the manner of the inquiry, analysis, and reasoning, the reality of the three states. The birth, life, death, and the world are part of the duality (universe). Consciousness is the true 'Self', and it is the formless witness of birth, life, death, and the world.

Thus, the view that the body is the true 'Self' has been denounced by the enunciation of the difference between the soul and the body. The seeker has to grasp the truth, between the three states, and the formless witness (the Soul).

Remember:~

It is the  Soul, the Self that is in illusion, and it is the Soul, the Self that gets free from the bondage of the illusion. The illusion is present in the form of the mind. The mind is in the form of the universe. The universe appears as a waking or dream and disappears as deep sleep.  The individual experiences of birth, life, death and the world are within the waking experience.  The dream is a parallel waking experience and waking is a parallel dream.

Deeper self-search reveals the fact that the  Self is neither the waking entity nor the self is the dream entity, but the self is a formless Soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states in succession.   This has to be mentally grasped and assimilated to realize the Soul, the 'Self' is nothing to do with the three states. From the standpoint of the three states, the three states are merely an illusion.

The practical life within the practical world, which is present as the waking experience, is merely an illusion.

If waking experience is merely an illusion then the individual experience of birth, life, death, and the world is merely an illusion.

If the experience of birth, life, death, and the world is merely an illusion, it means the form; time, and space are merely an illusion.

If the experience of form, time, and space are merely an illusion, it means the past, present, and future are merely an illusion.

Thus, it is necessary for the Seeker to realize the fact that form, time, and space are one in essence, in order to realize the three states are one in essence. That essence is consciousness. Thus, all the diversity is created out of formless consciousness. Thus, no second thing exists other than Soul, the Self.

The seeker of truth has to constantly reflect on the subject in order to get a firm conviction of the truth.  The seeker has to reflect on the same truth again and again until it becomes reality. One needs to constantly, reflect on the subject until he gets a firm conviction of 'what is what'.:~Santthosh Kumaar

The means to the attainment of the Self Knowledge are: discrimination between things permanent.+

The Soul is the Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. The nature of the Soul is nondual awareness. The nondual awareness is real and eternal. The nature of the mind is physical awareness(I). The mind is present in the form of the universe.

The universe appears as a waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality). The duality is physical awareness and the nonduality is Soul-awareness.

From the standpoint of the Soul, the Self, the physical awareness (duality or the universe) is merely an illusion.   The illusion is created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Thus, there is no difference between illusion and reality because both are one in essence.

It is not possible to grasp the Advaitic truth if one is stuck to the ‘I’~ consciousness.  The ‘I-awareness' is physical awareness. Physical existence is present in the form of the mind. The mind is present in the form of the universe.

The universe appears as a waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality). The one which becomes duality and nonduality is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Thus, there is no second thing that exists other than the Soul or consciousness. Thus, the Soul or consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman.

The soul or the consciousness is the substance and the witness of the duality.  The duality is present in the form of the mind. The Mind is present in the form of the universe. The universe appears as a waking or dream and diapers as deep sleep.

The one which is aware of the coming and going of the three states is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity, but the formless Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

When the Soul becomes aware of its formless non-dual true nature in the midst of duality it is called Self –awareness. It is foolish to limit the consciousness only to duality because the consciousness pervades all the three states.

Remember:~

Consciousness is the shoreless Non-dual Ocean. The consciousness is beyond form, time, and space. Consciousness is beyond instinct, intellect, imagination, and inspiration. It is unconscious of its true nature when it is an illusion. Only beyond illusion, it is in its true nature.

Truth must be discovered, but there is no formula for its discovery. You must set out on the uncharted sea, and the uncharted sea is yourself. You must set out to discover the Self…”

The Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness itself is Guru. It may appear in any form and guides the sincere and serious seekers towards the nondual destination.

The seeker has to take refuge in the Self, the indivisible consciousness which is beyond the reach of words and thought.  The seeker has to discover the formless substance and witness of all the three states in order to know the self is not limited to the physical entity but to the whole universe.

A true Gnani who on account of his being free from the illusion of duality, expounds the essence of the non- duality to fellow seekers.

The means to the attainment of Knowledge are the discrimination between things permanent and transient, and the desire for spiritual freedom.

Prejudice is like poison. Unless purged out of one's mind in the early stages, it can spread like cancer and make one incapable of differentiating between reality and unreality. Religion is not a means to Self-Knowledge. People believe that their own religion is superior to all others, but religion is based on the form, whereas the ultimate truth is based on the formless.

Remember:~

Discrimination between things permanent and transient; this consists of the discrimination that the Soul, which is in the form of consciousness alone is the permanent substance and that all things other than it,  are merely an illusion.

Material enjoyment and sex pleasures are part of the illusion and they are results of action. Whatever is based on action makes one think the duality as reality. If the duality is accepted as reality then there is no escape from illusion, which one experiences as reality.

Until one thinks his conduct is the means for freedom he is bound to believe the birth, life, death, and the universe as reality. Until one thinks he is born, lives, and dies in this world he remains ignorant of the truth.

Consciousness is the ultimate reality.   The consciousness is without a second. Consciousness is Existence. Unreality is ignorance and all other material objects.
:~Santthosh Kumaar

Most of the modern Gurus are also stuck with ‘I’ awareness as self-awareness.+

Most of the modern Gurus are also stuck with ‘I’ awareness as Self-awareness. The ‘I’ awareness is present only when the mind is present.

The mind is present only when the universe is present.  The universe is present only when the waking or dream is present.

The ‘I’ awareness is absent when the mind is absent.   The mind is absent then the universe or waking or dream is absent. Thus ‘I’ awareness is merely an illusion.   The self-awareness is ‘I- LESS AWARENESS.

Bhagavad Gita 2:46:~  "A man of true knowledge who has attained enlightenment, has the same use for all the scriptures as one has for a small reservoir of water in a place flooded on all sides."

The rituals mentioned in the karmakanda of the Vedas are sought to be negated in the jnanakanda which is also part of the same scripture. While the karmakanda enjoins upon you the worship of various deities and lays down rules for the same, the jnanakanda constituted by the Upanishads ridicules the worshipper of deities as a dim-witted person no better than a beast.
This seems strange, the latter part of the Vedas contradicting the former part. The first part deals with karma, while the second or concluding part is all about jnana. Owing to this difference, people have gone so far as to divide our scripture into two sections: the Vedas (that is the first part) to mean the karmakanda and the Upanishads (Vedanta) to mean the jnanakanda.

Sage Sankara:~  VC Let erudite scholars quote all the scripture, let Gods be invoked through sacrifices, let elaborate rituals be performed, let personal Gods be propitiated---yet, without the realization of one‘s identity with the Self, there shall be no liberation for the individual, not  even in the lifetimes of a hundred Brahmas put together (verses-6)

It is clear that liberation cannot be the result of good works, for Sruti itself declares that there is no hope for immortality by means of wealth.  (Verses -7)

Sage Sankara said: ~ Neither by the practice of yoga nor philosophy, nor by good works nor by learning, does liberation come, but only through the realization that Atman and Brahman are one in no other way. (1) VivekaChudamani v 56, pg 25

Lord Krishna confesses that the oldest wisdom of India (our true Advaitic wisdom) has been lost: people misinterpret and falsify it today as they did then. It is not yoga but the philosophic truth. But nobody knows it. The teachers of philosophy and leaders of mysticism or religion do not want to inquire into truth and have no time for it. (Gita –Chap- IV-v.2)

In Gita Chap.IV where Lord Krishna says: ~ "This yoga has been lost for ages" the word yoga refers to Gnana yoga, not other yogas: the force of the word this is to point this out.

Lord Krishna describes some of the other yogas but devotes this chapter separately to Gnana Yoga. So one sees even in those ancient days people did not care for Advaita; they wanted religion; hence,  Gnana got lost. That is why Krishna calls it "the supreme secret." Krishna points out that the yoga must-see is "Brahman in action."

Gita Chap.IV: "He who achieves perfection in Yoga finds the Self in time." This means that after his yoga is finished, he begins the inquiry into ultimate truth, and in due course, this inquiry produces the realization of the universal spirit as the result.

Lord Krishna says Ch. V:~ “Those who know the Self in truth." The last two words (tattvataha) are usually ignored by pundits, but they make all the difference between the ordinary concept of God and the truth about God.

There is no need for any practice to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.  A perfect understanding of assimilation of ‘what is what’ is very much necessary to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

Sage Sankara: ~ VC~"All this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms, is nothing else but Brahman which is absolutely free from all the limitations of human thought.

Sage Sankara said:~  Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many Gods as you please, observe ceremonies, and sing devotional hymns, but liberation will never come, even after a hundred aeons, without realizing the Oneness.

According to Advaita Vedanta, the Veda addresses itself to two kinds of audiences - the ordinary ones who desire the transitory heaven and other pleasures obtained as a result of ritual sacrifices, and the most advanced seeker who seeks to know Brahman. Thus, the Purva mimam. sa, with its emphasis on the karma kanda of the Vedas, is meant for the first audience, to help lead its followers along the way. However, the Vedanta, with its emphasis on the jnana kanda, is meant for those who wish to go beyond such transient pleasures.

Those who lack the intelligence to discriminate between formless witness (subject) and three states (object) will not be able to grasp what is real and what is unreal. Both subject and object are consciousness, not subject alone.:~Santthosh Kumaar

What is the use of arguing on the base of the birth entity, which is not the Self? +

People from all over the world come to India to learn Advaita Vedanta from some Guru after studying they become teachers of Advaita and start preaching  Advaita.  Many write books on Advaita. But such books are based on borrowed knowledge from here and there.   Such knowledge is not Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
All accumulated knowledge is of no use in the path of wisdom. Without realizing “What is the truth,  it is impossible to realize “What is untruth?” Without realizing what is the truth and what is the untruth,  it is impossible to assimilate the Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. Thus,  one must know with full and firm conviction what truth is
People think of the ‘I’ without the body as the Self.  Deeper self-search reveals the fact that ‘I’ is not the Self, but the formless witness of the ‘I’ is the true Self.  The witness is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Consciousness is real and eternal.
WHO AM ‘I’? AND ‘I AM THAT’ is only for a lower stage where one gives up externally in order to expose the false nature of the ego, which is not the full truth. To get the ultimate truth one has to inquire into the nature of the mind, which is in the form of the universe.  Inquiring into nature the mind or the universe is higher.  Thus, ‘WHO AM ‘I’? or ‘I AM THAT’ teachings are not complete wisdom,  and the journey is incomplete.

The ‘WHO AM ‘I’?’ inquiry is good at the starting point of the pursuit of truth but later stages it created lots of confusion.  When the self is genderless then it is not He/She. Therefore, using the word ‘I AM’ for the self is erroneous.  Deeper self-search reveals the fact that the self is not the ‘I’, therefore ‘WHO AM I?- will not help to unfold the truth beyond the form, time and space.
Thus, it is going in the right direction in its invention and one day it will declare that everything is consciousness, which Sage Sri Sankara declared 1200 years back:  ~Everything is the Atman because the Atman is in the form of consciousness.

Remember:~

Buddha,  Sage Goudpada, and  Sage Sankara are not only reformers but also the greatest Sage-scientists. Since their original thesis has been mixed up and lost in the labyrinths of philosophy and mutilated by orthodoxy, it becomes very difficult to understand and assimilate the wisdom expounded by the great masters. In addition, the conservativeness of the scholars will not allow any research other than playing with the words, which suits the mass mindset because of their egocentric outlook.

The one who holds the 'Self' as the  ‘I’ never will be able to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. Thus, it is necessary to realize first the ‘I’ is not the Self, but the 'Self' is the Soul, the witness of the ‘I’.

The ‘I-centric'  teaching and teachers are not a yardstick in the path of wisdom. ‘I-centric 'teaching will not lead the seeker to the ultimate end of his inner journey.

Not by listening to Guru's sermons, nor by the study of books, not by meritorious deeds, nor by any other means can one attain  Advaitic awareness, which is attainable only through association with the Gnanis and the clear quest of the Self.

Advaitic wisdom is given neither from outside nor from another person.

Many seekers in this path of inquiry are still struggling even after long years and waiting for something to happen. Even after reading and inquiring deeply enough, still, they are unable to progress further.  Even they are unable to get any benefit in their spiritual pursuit through self - inquiry they are unable to give up the self-inquiry due to the attraction to some sage of the past.

Self-inquiry is a good tool at the beginning of the pursuit of truth. But the seeker will find it inadequate in later stages. However, it creates lots of doubts and confusion.  The seeker has to find the answers on his own through deeper reasoning, than all his doubts and confusions will be cleared, and he will be able to move ahead in the path of inquiry, and he will be able to reach his non-dual destination.

WHO AM ‘I’? and ‘I AM THAT’- teachings are only for a lower stage where one gives up externally in order to expose the false nature of the ego, which is not the full truth. To get the ultimate truth one has to inquire into the nature of the mind, which is in the form of the universe.  Inquiring into the nature of the mind or the universe is higher.  Thus WHO AM ‘I’? and ‘I AM THAT’ teachings will not reveal the truth of the whole,  thus the journey is incomplete.

‘WHO AM ‘I’ and ‘I AM THAT’ - serve only at the starting point. What one has to learn from the teaching of the Sages be understood through the exercise of reason as far as the reason might go?  And what one has assimilated must be realized. There are stages in the seeker's goal.

Remember:~

Fortunate is the one who does not lose themselves in the teachings which do not help him to acquire Self-knowledge. Fortunate is the seeker who does not lose himself in the labyrinths of various teachings of the Gurus but investigates straight to the source from which the universe arises.

First,  one has to mentally detach the three states from the formless witness, as unaffected by the coming and going of the three states. And then – the formless witness and the three states are one in essence. That essence is consciousness.  Thus, everything is consciousness and nothing exists other than the consciousness.

People stop their pursuit of truth at the ‘WHO AM ‘I’? or ‘I AM THAT’ teachings which are incomplete and keep them in the grip of individuality and individuality leading them to intellectuality.

Deeper self-search investigates through a mental microscope (inquiry and soulcentric reasoning)

Remember:~

Without realizing ‘what is the mind? it is impossible to grasp and realize the Nondualistic or Advaitic truth. Firstly, one has to realize the mind is not within the body, but the body, ego, and the world are within the mind (I). Without understanding this fact it is no use in discussing because you are discussing the base of ego (waking entity) and my answers are based on the Soul, the  Self.

It takes a lot of time to train the ego to become soulcentric. Once the seasoning base is rectified from the form (ego) to formless, then the truth will start revealing on its own and you will be able to understand what I am saying.

Now in waking experience (at present) the ego reasons ‘what is right’ and ‘what is wrong’, which is very helpful in the practical life impractical world. In soulcentric reasoning, it will start discriminating between real and unreal and truth and untruth.

Self-awareness is ‘I- LESS AWARENESS.

It is impossible to get rid of any conditioning without getting rid of the inborn samskara or conditioning.   ‘I’ or ‘I AM’ is the inborn samskara or conditioning. ‘I’ or ‘I AM’ is the mother of all conditioning. Because of this inborn conditioning, one thinks he is an individual separate from the world and the world existed prior to him and he is born in it afterward.

Until this inborn conditioning is present one is in the grip of duality and he experiences the birth, life, death, and the world as reality.  This inborn conditioning makes one experience the illusory duality as reality.

Remember:~

Man has a firm conviction that he is an individual separate from the world,  and the world existed prior to him and he is born in it afterward.  This conviction makes him remain in ignorance. And ignorance makes him accept the illusion as reality.  Thus, he is caught up in the web of illusion experiencing birth, life, death, and the world as reality.

What is this universe (samsara), what is this illusion to the formless soul or consciousness, the innermost self?   the consciousness and the universe both are one in essence ultimately.

Only people who stick to the reality of the universe think of the body as body, ego as ego, and the world as the world.  It never strikes in them the waking experience in which they exist along with their world also as unreal as a dream.

The dream becomes unreal when the waking takes place.  And the waking becomes unreal when the waking entity realizes it is not the self,  but the self is the formless witness (soul) of the three states.
Consciousness is within the three states as their formless substance and it is apart from the three states as their formless witness.  It is apart because it is not an entity or identity within the three states.

Remember:~

The person, who stamped his feet on the ground to refute to show the world, is real, ignore that in a dream he would do exactly the same--stamp his dream foot on the ground and assert it to be real.

When wisdom dawns, the Soul, the Self, wakes up in its formless nondual true nature in the midst of duality (waking). For a Gnani the body, ego, and the universe are a mere mirage created out of consciousness.

When the universe (mind) is considered not different from the consciousness (Soul), which is the Self, then there is the division of form, time, and space.  When form, time, and space are one in essence,  then where is the universe (mind).

The universe (waking) is both real and unreal. It is real because it is a manifestation of consciousness, but is unreal, in the sense, that it is not absolute and eternal like consciousness itself.

Remember:~

People try to overcome their inherited religious conditioning, but by getting rid of the religious conditioning one will not be able to overcome the physical shackle.  One has to get rid of the inborn samskara or conditioning itself by realizing the fact that ‘I’ or ‘I AM’   is not the Self.

Only by getting rid of ignorance, one can get rid of the inborn samskara or conditioning.

v  What is the use of arguing on the base of the birth entity, which is not the Self?

v  What is the use of knowing what happens after death when the Self is birthless?

v  What is the use of thinking of heaven and hell when the Self is not an individual and it is never born and never dies?

The Man is unaware of the fact that he and his experience of the world are within the waking experience.  The waking experience appears and disappears, in the same way as the dream. When there is a dream then there is no waking. When there is waking then there is no dream.  When there is neither a dream nor a waking it is identified as deep sleep in the waking experience.
One is aware of the dream or deep sleep only in waking.  The one which is aware of the coming and going of the three states is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity but the formless witness of the three states.

All the scriptures indicate that Atman is Brahman, and Brahman is the ultimate truth. Therefore the soul, which is in the form of consciousness, is the ultimate truth.  Thus, realizing the ultimate truth is the prime goal.

A well-directed inquiry, analysis, and reasoning will lead one to his nondual destination.:~Santthosh Kumaar

Upanishads:~ Fools dwelling in darkness, but thinking themselves wise and erudite, go round and round, by various tortuous paths.+

Upanishads:~ Fools dwelling in darkness, but thinking themselves wise and erudite, go round and round, by various tortuous paths, like the blind led by the blind. (Upanishads Nikhilananda -  Ch II-5 P-14)

The seeker has to overcome all the obstacles in his pursuit of truth on his own.  They are so many scholars who mastered philosophy.  It is impossible to acquire Self-knowledge through theoretical philosophy. Because their preaching is based on Spirit and practices are based on ego or the waking entity.

Thus, one has to realize the Advaitic truth without the scriptures and without getting involved in orthodoxy or any other teaching.

WHO AM ‘I’ and  ‘I AM THAT- teachings are only for a lower stage where one gives up externally in order  TO expose the false nature of the ego, which is not the full truth. To get the ultimate truth one has to inquire into the nature of the mind, which is in the form of the universe.  Inquiring into the nature of the universe is higher.  Thus,WHO AM ‘I’?  and  ‘I AM THAT’  - teachings are incomplete, and following these teachings the journey is incomplete.

First one has to mentally detach the three states from the formless witness, as unaffected by the coming and going of the three states. And then – the formless witness and the three states are one in essence. That essence is consciousness.  Thus, everything is consciousness and nothing exists other than consciousness.

People stop their pursuit of truth at the ‘WHO AM ‘I’? or ‘I AM THAT’- which is incomplete and keeps them in the grip of individuality. And individuality leads them to intellectuality. Intellectuality is limited to form, time and space. whereas the ultimate truth is beyond form, time, and space.

The seeker will complete his pursuit of the truth only when realizes the truth of the whole that is inquiring into the nature of the mind or the universe.

Others' Blessings are not the means for realizing the truth; blessings are a religious fable, nothing to with the ultimate truth. A Gnani neither blesses nor curses.

That the ancient sages had miraculous occult power and books relate stories of their feats are fairy tales were meant for children, women, and those whose minds had not developed.

Mythological contains stories of people with 10 with seven heads, etc., which are fables, yet are taken seriously by pundits.  All these stories are a reality within the waking experience and the waking experience itself falsehood from the ultimate standpoint.

The yogi in Samadhi fails to see non-duality? Because he believes there is happiness to come to him from Samadhi. That shows he does not know the truth but still seeks bliss as something apart from the Self.

Remember:~

The common people draw a wrong inference in thinking a Gnani must ascetically reject the world; this is only for those religious or yogic minds on the lower rungs of the ladder.

Yoga is to be practiced only until one attains equilibrium of mind; when this is established, the continuance of yoga is foolish.  The indifference practiced by a seeker is external to the Self, is nondual; the indifference practiced by a Gnani is purely internal, is mental.

The greatest mistake is to think that a Gnani sees nothing. This blind reverence for Samadhi is as valuable as revering a man who has taken a dose of chloroform.

Gnani sees the essential universal unity and the multiplicity of objects simultaneously. The person in deep sleep or Samadhi leaves out the objects and sees the essence; hence, he has no  Advaitic Gnana.

One must be soul-centric to give all knowledge based on egocentric, which is the cause of ignorance.

One knows of a dream that the dream-figures are also created out of consciousness, not different from it; similarly, when he knows that everything that exists in waking experience is consciousness and consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman, there is no need for the yogic control of the mind; control presupposes a second thing, duality. Hence, yoga is in the sphere of duality and is unnecessary to one who knows non-duality.

It is erroneous to believe the general impression is that the universe disappears to a Gnani, that he sees nothing in Samadhi. Only deluded persons will have such an impression?   Nothing is destroyed. Only ignorance disappears and the unreal nature of the universe is exposed.

A Gnani is fully aware of the fact with a firm conviction that everything is consciousness in the midst of duality.  Being aware of the reality in the midst of duality is called wisdom.

The universe or waking experience will not disappear.  It is there always, but its unreal nature is exposed in the midst of duality or waking experience through wisdom?

If one thinks its mere disappearance in yogic Samadhi is the ultimate truth or Brahman, then he would get it in deep sleep.  Thus, the yogic Samadhi is not wisdom. :~Santthosh Kumaar

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad:~Brahman is the form of the Athma, and it is indeed Athma itself.+

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad:~  The Self is indeed Brahman, but through ignorance, people identify it with intellect, mind, senses, passions, and the elements of earth, water, air, space, and fire. This is why the Self is said to consist of this and that and appears to be everything.

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad:~Brahman is the form of the Athma, and it is indeed Athma itself.

DVI" means two. DVI" connotes dual existence and the non-dual. Which of these two is non-existence? People think that there is God and that the jivas--souls-- like them form the second, other than them. There is no such duality at all.

The  Soul,  the Self, which is present in the form of consciousness, is the only reality and there is nothing other than this soul or consciousness, which is the  Self.

From the standpoint of the  Soul, the Self, there is no second thing that exists other than consciousness.  Because the whole universe in which we all exist is created out of consciousness.  There is no second thing that exists other than consciousness. Hence, it is nondual (non-duality). The soul or consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

People say Aham Brahmasmi ~  I am God, I am Brahman. But when Brahman is, how can "I" remain? Only Brahman remains, not I.

Bhagavad Gita:~Brahmano hi pratisthaham- Brahman is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. ~14.27.

To say there is God or no God, you must be present. You are present only when the world is present. Without you, the world ceases to exist. Thus,  you and the world appear together and disappear together.

A deeper investigation reveals the fact that there is no use in inquiring “WHO AM “I ?  because you are inquiring only about your existence dropping the world in which you exist. Without including the world in your inquiry it is impossible to realize the Advatic Truth, which is beyond the form, time, and space.

That is why Sage Sankara said:~  VC-63- Without causing the objective universe to vanish and without knowing the truth of the Self, how is one to achieve Liberation.

That is why Sage Sankara says:~VC 65- As a treasure hidden underground requires (for its extraction) competent instruction, excavation, the removal of stones and other such things lying above it and (finally) grasping, but never come out by being (merely) called out by name, so the transparent Truth of the self, which is hidden by Maya and its effects, is to be attained through the instructions of a knower of Brahman, followed by reflection, meditation and so forth, but not through perverted arguments.

66. Therefore, the wise should, as in the case of disease and the like, personally strive by all the means in their power to be free from the bondage of repeated births and deaths.

Thus,  one has to know what is real by realizing our body and our experience of the world is merely an illusion created out of consciousness, which is the Self.  The nature of the self is emptiness. And it is identified by different masters with different names such as God in truth or Brahman or consciousness. :~ Santthosh Kumaar
