The Sages of truth are not religious Gurus or Saints.+

The look of an object will depend upon the medium through which the observer views it. In fact, our mental and intellectual conditions determine the three states, observed and experienced.  The commoner viewing the three states will see differently from a Gnani viewing the same three states. Each one interprets the three states that they see in terms of their existing knowledge. The commoner sees everything based on the ego, therefore, he experiences the birth, life, karma,  death, and the world as a reality, whereas a Gnani sees everything as the consciousness and he is fully aware of the fact that, there is no second thing exists other than the Soul or consciousness.

Thus, all the egocentric (religious) adulteration has to be bifurcated to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman to know the truth propagated by the ancient sages of the truth. The sages of truth are not religious Gurus or saints.

There is no need to follow anyone.  There is no need to follow any path.  The ultimate truth or Brahman is nothing to do with religions, philosophies,  some Guru's teachings.

The religious teachers, gurus, yogis are nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman. They are merely propagators of their religious beliefs and theories.  Therefore, they cannot help in the quest of the Self.

Remember:~
Religion teaches one to look outside the Soul, the Self and promises a heaven and a reward outside the Soul, the innermost Self, is not the means to Self-realization.

Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what’, leads to non-dualistic or Advaitic Self-awareness.

Sentimentally and emotionally getting involved with some teachings or teachers is a great hindrance in the pursuit of truth. People hold their guru as the ultimate authority and drop their pursuit of truth and indulge in glorifying and worshiping the gurus, which keeps them permanently in ignorance.

For Gnani the world is an illusion. Viewed from the absolute, there's neither birth nor life nor death, neither the appearance nor the disappearance, neither the production nor the destruction, neither the bondage nor the liberation. There's none who neither seeks for freedom nor is there any who is liberated - this is the highest truth.

A Gnani knows that there's neither unity nor plurality - the world is neither one nor many. Just as a piece of rope is mistaken for a snake, the Atman is mistaken as this diverse world. Duality is an appearance and the non-dual Atman is the real truth.

Sage Sankara himself had often said that his philosophy was based on Sruti, or revealed scripture.  This may be because Sage Sankara addressed the ordinary man, who finds security in the idea of causality and thus, in the idea of God—and Revelation is indispensable to prove the latter.  He believed that those of superior intelligence, have no need of this idea of divine causality, and can, therefore, dispense with Sruti and arrive at the truth of Non-Dualism by pure reason.

Sage Sankara is the only sage who has final authority on the Advaitic truth. The Advaitic truth is rational truth and scientific truth without dogma.

The Advaitic orthodoxy is not the means to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.  Advaitic orthodoxy is meant for the ignorant mass that is unfit to grasp the highest truth.   Thus, the Advaitic orthodoxy is nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman.

Sage Sankara disagrees with Buddhists who say, there is nothing - a nonentity. Sage Sri, Sankara believes there is some reality, even though things are not what they appear to be. If one knows the truth, he will know what to do to find inspiration for action.  The seeker of truth‘s subject is to know what is it that is Real.

Buddhism says:~ all things are illusory and nothing exists.  However, Advaita avers that it is not so.  It says that the universe, of course, is illusory, but there is Brahman (consciousness), that exists, forming the very substratum of all things (illusion or universe).

The ignorant are always egocentric. He thinks what he knows is the truth.  He always indulges in pursuit of an argument.  The ignorant is sentimentalized to his belief system.  An ignorant person just to prove that he is correct and others are wrong because the ignorant presumes he already knows and wants to see whether others know or not.

The ignorant person provokes others to snub them. Ignorant accumulates knowledge and tries to show his intellectual wealth. Such intellectual sharing of knowledge is mere garbage. It is of no use in pursuit of truth. Because they are egocentric based on ignorance thus they will not yield any truth.:~Santthosh Kumaar

Sage Sankara's Advaita does not need the support of any scripture or revelation like the Vedas.+

Advaitic view~

Sage Sankara's system of Advaita does not need the support of any Scripture or Revelation like the Vedas. The Srutis may all disappear, yet will his school stand.  Since it is based, not upon the varying theological fancies, which are as numerous as the sands of the sea, but upon reason, the common heritage of all mankind, irrespective of color or creed or clime.

The tenet of Nirguna Brahman is true for Sage Sankara, not because it is taught by the Sruti, but because it is based on anubhava (intuitive experience) though it is also supported by the Sruti... The Advaitin knows that a legitimate doubt may have here to arise.  The Rishis may have truly spoken, but they may have been deluded themselves.  How are we certain that what the Rishis cognized is the Reality or Truth?  This can be proved according to the Advaita, only by the realization of truth beyond the form, time, and space.

And also:~

Again, in the absence of this realization, Nirguna Brahman as an object of thought is mere sound without sense. To one who has not seen a penguin, for instance, the word has no meaning ... Of what use, then, is such Sruti to him?  Similarly, common sense tells the Advaitin that the meaning of the Sruti and especially where there are conflicting interpretations is made out by means of reasoning based upon the authority of realization, which is final.

Thus, the reason comes into play between Sruti and realization corroborating the data of intuition with those of the revealed texts.

But reason also permits discrimination between the different possible experiences, for, in an a priori astonishing fashion:

Realization  ... can reveal not two, but twenty thousand conflicting experiences.  And the business of the wise is to sift the ultimate truth from out of all these ... The Advaitin rejects nothing.  All human experiences are his data.  He tests all by reason.

Only the Advaita can reply: it is the witness, the Seer. The Buddhists are in error in regards to the finite ego as illusory, and as having nothing more behind it: but they would have been perfectly correct in such outlook had they added the notion of the witness. How is it that Skandhas come together and compose the ego? Who sees them come and go? It is the witness, the Atman, and this lack Vedanta supplies in the seer and seen and reason Analysis. When they say that the mind comes and goes they are forgetting that there must be another part of the mind as consciousness that notices it and which tells them of this disappearance and appearance. All their misunderstandings arise from the fact that Buddha refused to discuss the ultimate questions. When Buddhism degenerates into Nihilism Advitin refutes it ( Manduka P.281).

The truth of a single reality within or underlying the illusory ego is all-important and without it Buddhism becomes fallacious.

Vedanta admits the transitoriness and evanescence of thoughts just like Buddhism, but not of the Mind which observes this transitoriness and knows it.

Manduka Upanishad:~  Buddhists borrowed from Upanishads because they were Indians. The Vedantins did not need to borrow from Buddhism therefore (P.396 v.99)

Bhagavan Buddha taught the illusoriness of ego but did not go further, probably because he thought the world could not understand the higher truth. Hence followers go with him to that point of his and then deny the Vedantic doctrine of one supreme reality when the Bhagavan Buddha himself neither denied nor advocated it. Anyway, the refutation of his followers is to ask them “What is it that is aware of the ego's illusoriness?" There must be something that tells you that. That something is the  Drik, and if you say this Drik itself may be illusory, coming and going, still there must be something non-transient i.e.permanent, to tell you this.

Bhagavan Buddha's teachings that all life is misery belongs to the relative standpoint only. For you cannot form any idea of misery without contrasting it with its opposite, happiness. The two will always go together.

Bhagavan Buddha taught the goal of cessation of misery, i.e. peace, but took care not to discuss the ultimate standpoint for then he would have had to go above the heads of the people and tell them that misery itself was only an idea, that peace even was an idea (for it contrasted with peacelessness). That the doctrine he gave out was a limited one, is evident because he inculcated compassion. Why should a Buddhist sage practice pity? There is no reason for it.

Advaita is the next step higher than Buddhism because it gives the missing reason, viz. unity, non-difference from others, and because it explains that it used the concept of removing the sufferings of others, of lifting them up to happiness, only as we use one thorn to pick out another, afterward throw both away. Similarly, Advaita discards both concepts of misery and happiness in the ultimate standpoint of non-duality, which is indescribable.

Buddhists say that a thing exists only for a moment, and if that thing has still got some of the substance from which it was produced how then can they deny that its cause is continuing in the effect; hence its existence is more than a moment. Vedanta is concerned with whether it is one and the same thing which has come into being or has it come out of nothing.

Even the Sunyavada ultimate of the "void" is really a breath, and therefore an imagination and not truth.

Bhagavan Buddha as a constructive worker committed an error in failing to give the masses a religion, something tangible they could grasp, something materialistic, if symbolic that their limited intellect could take hold of, in addition to his ethics and philosophy. Here  Sage Sankara was wiser and gave the religion; such as rituals and karma to the ignorant masses, as well as Advaitic wisdom to those who are capable to grasp the truth hidden by the 'I'.

Bhagavan Buddha gave as the central feature of his doctrine the great law of Karma in order to reiterate its ethical meaning. He did more good in this to uplift the people than the ritualists.

Tibetan and Chinese Buddhists who say that there are many Buddhas living in spirit bodies and helping our earth from the spiritual world are still in the sphere of religious illusion, not the ultimate truth. Their statements are wrong.
Every sage realizes that the only way to help mankind is to come down amongst them, for which he must necessarily take on flesh-body. When people are suffering how can he relieve their suffering unless he appears amongst them? When people are suffering how can he feed them from an unseen world whether their struggle is for material bread or for spiritual truth? No! He must be here actually in the flesh. It is impossible to help them in any other way and all talk of Shiva living on Mount Kailas in the spiritual body or Buddha in Nirmanakaya, invisible body belongs to the realm of delusion or Self-deception. :~Santthosh Kumaar

The Upanishads declare :~ It is impossible to find and realize the truth via religion and scriptural studies.+

I quote scriptures to indicate that, the scriptures are also saying the same thing what I am saying. To realize the ultimate truth or Brahman no scriptures are needed. I am highlighting only the rational views of the sages of truth.

People think that by studying Vedas one will be able to get Self-realization but it is not so.  Vedic studies lead to nowhere. What is the use of studying scriptures when Upanishads itself declares:-

Katha Upanishad:~   This Atman cannot be attained by the study of the Vedas, or by intelligence, nor by much hearing of sacred books. It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Atman reveals Its own form. (Katha Upanishad Ch-II -23-P-20)

Mundaka Upanishad: - This Atman cannot be attained through the study of the Vedas, nor through intelligence, nor through much learning. He who chooses Atman—by him alone is Atman attained. It is the Atman that reveals to the seeker Its true nature. (3 page-70 - Mundaka Upanishad- Upanishads by Nikilanada)

When the Upanishad says:  the human goal is to acquire Self-Knowledge and they indicate the personal gods, scriptures, worship, and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge, then why anyone should indulge in it.

The Upanishads declare:~

Mundaka Upanishad 1:2:8:~ “Remaining in the fold of ignorance and thinking “we are extremely wise and learned,” the fools with boastful nature ramble about like the blind led by the blind alone.”

Mundaka Upanishad 3:2:3:~ “The weak and timid cannot realize the Self. Self-Realization is not possible through intellect or hearing the spiritual discourse. One who welcomes God in every activity, through a thorough controlled and disciplined life, to him also the Soul is revealed

Katha Upanishad 1:2:23:~ The Soul cannot be realized through hearing the scholarly explanation of the discourses, not even by the intellect.

Katha Upanishad 1:3:6:~“Through the knowledge of the Soul, God, one is pure and clean constantly.” Neither by reading the book nor by taking a bath at the holy place has one become pure. Inner purity is possible when one remains in constant touch with the Soul. Constant Soul Consciousness is real purity.

Kena Upanishad 2:4:~ When it is known through every state of cognition, it is rightly known, for (by such knowledge) one attains life eternal. Through one's own 'Self' one gains power and through wisdom, one gains immortality.

Kena Upanishad 2:5  If here one knows it, then there is no need to study Vedanta or any scriptures to self-realization.

Yoga Vasistha:~ "Teachers, interpretations of sacred texts, the force of religious merit--none of these lead to the realization of that Ultimate Truth which is revealed in the clear reflection of the heart, engendered from contact with the good."

Sage Sankara: ~ VC- Let erudite scholars quote all the scripture, let Gods be invoked through sacrifices, let elaborate rituals be performed, let personal Gods be propitiated---yet, without the realization of one‘s identity with the Self, there shall be no liberation for the individual, not even in the lifetimes of a hundred Brahmas put together (verses-6)

Sage Sankara said: ~ Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many Gods as you please, observe ceremonies, and sing devotional hymns, but the liberation will never come, even after a hundred aeons, without realizing the Oneness.

Sage Sankara:~ VC- 61. For one who has been bitten by the serpent of Ignorance, the only remedy is the knowledge of Brahman. Of what avail are the Vedas and (other) Scriptures, Mantras (sacred formulae), and medicines to such a one?

Upanishads: ~ Fools dwelling in darkness, but thinking themselves wise and erudite, go round and round, by various tortuous paths, like the blind led by the blind. (Upanishads Nikilanada - Ch II-5 P-14)

The seeker has to overcome all the obstacles in pursuit of truth on his own. They are so many scholars who mastered philosophy. It is impossible to acquire Self-knowledge through Vedas and theoretical philosophy. Because their preaching is based on spirit and practices is based on ego or waking entity.

Katha Upanishad: ~ This Atman cannot be attained by the study of the Vedas, or by intelligence, nor by much hearing of sacred books. It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Atman reveals Its own form. (Katha Upanishad Ch-II -23-P-20)

It is very difficult to talk to people about the ultimate truth or Brahman because everyone thinks he knows the ultimate truth or Brahman.

This- I know business is dangerous. And whatever his reached conclusion is second-hand stuff. Therefore, accepting accumulated knowledge without verification will lead the seekers to hallucinated realization based on the ego. One may have some flashes of truth when someone tries to indicate it through fewer words. But it takes nearer to the truth, not realization.

Upanishad says:~ "He who thinks he knows, does not know." This means that to know anything implies a second, an object of knowledge, hence duality, i.e. no Gnana.

Tripura Rahasya: ~ Second-hand knowledge of the Self-gathered from books or Gurus can never emancipate a man until its truth is rightly investigated and applied; only direct realization will do that. Realize yourself, turning the mind inward. ~ (18: 89)

The pursuit of truth is a mental journey. Deeper Self-search makes one aware of ‘what truth’ is and what is untruth’. When one gets a firm conviction of ‘what is the truth then the subconscious will reject the untruth. Whatever prevails after rejecting the untruth is the ultimate truth or Brahman.

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad says:~ In that unitive state there is neither father nor mother, neither worlds nor gods nor even the Scriptures. In that state, there is neither thief nor slayer, neither low caste nor high, neither monk nor ascetic. The Self is beyond good and evil, beyond all the suffering of the human heart.

Sage Sankara says ~ 58. Loud speech consisting of a shower of words, the skill in expounding the Scriptures, and likewise erudition - these merely bring on a little personal enjoyment to the scholar but are no good for Liberation.

59. The study of the Scriptures is useless so long as the highest Truth is unknown, and it is equally useless when the highest Truth has already been known.

60The Scriptures consisting of many words are a dense forest that merely causes the mind to ramble. Hence men of wisdom should earnestly set about knowing the true nature of the Self.

The seeker has to without the scriptures move ahead in his pursuit of truth.

The Soul is the innermost Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. It is the consciousness that creates an illusion and it is the consciousness that gets free of it. The words may aggravate illusion; words may also help dispel it. There is a need to repeating the same truth again and again until it becomes reality.

The seeker has to reflect on the truth, which is beyond the form, time, and space constantly until he gets a firm conviction. People need hearing words of wisdom until facts speak to them louder than words, and if here one knows it not, there is a great loss. Hence, seeing the Real in all beings, wise men become immortal on departing from this world.

Scriptures are being added from time to time. This process will go on. There is the final authority among them? One contradicts the other: duality reigns supreme.

The Upanishads are Self-contradictory. Every pundit even gives conflicting interpretations of them. The final authority, therefore, is using one’s own reason. One should apply his reason to them.

The scriptures are for the ignorant masses, who wholly accept the material world as it presents itself. Gnana is for those who have begun to realize that things are not what they seem.

The Scriptures are of value only when dealing with persons who are incapable of understanding the truth. They have no value as authority for those who use reason. I quote only verified citations from the scriptures. I need no scriptures, but I quote them to help the seekers to realize it is possible to acquire Self-knowledge without the scriptures.

The Upanishads are the only scriptures in the world that says:  It is impossible to find and realize the truth via religion and scriptural study.:~Santthosh Kumaar

It is foolish to say I AM THAT, I AM THIS without realizing what the 'Self' is, and what 'Self 'is not.+

The Soul is the spiritual heart. The Soul is Self-evident. It is not established by extraneous proofs. It is not possible to deny the Soul because It is the very essence of the one who denies it.

The spiritual heart is not within the physical body.  The Soul is the spiritual heart.  The world,  in which you exist is within the Soul, the spiritual heart.

The ‘I’ is present in the form of the mind. The mind is present in the form of the universe.  The mind arises from the Soul as waking or dream (duality)  and subsides as deep sleep (nonduality).   Thus, the Soul is the source. Thinking the spiritual heart is within the body is erroneous because the Soul is the ever formless, timeless, and spaceless existence.

The ‘Self’ is not within you.  The world, in which you exist, is within the Self.’You are bound by form, time, and space, whereas the Self is the formless, timeless, and spaceless existence.  You are the false self within the false experience.

No one can stay as Self without realizing the Self. After realizing the Self-nothing stays as reality other than the Soul, the innermost Self.  It is foolish to say I AM THAT, I AM THIS without realizing what the 'Self' is, and what 'Self 'is not.

When you are the false self within the false experience, how can you say ‘I AM THAT’ when the ‘Self ‘is neither this nor that.

The Self is the fullness of consciousness. Therefore, there is nothing apart from it Thus, any division (body, ego, and the world) within the consciousness is merely an illusion.   Thus, whatever is experienced as a person within the illusion is bound to be an illusion.

The nature of the soul, the innermost self is awareness. Only through Advaitic wisdom, the truth beyond the form, time, and space is revealed.

A perfect understanding of ‘what is what” is needed to realize the truth, which is beyond form, time, and space. Getting stuck to some teaching keeps one in the prison of hallucination.

That is why Sage Sankara indicated: ~ 65. As a treasure hidden underground requires (for its extraction) competent instruction, excavation, the removal of stones and other such things lying above it and (finally) grasping, but never comes out by being (merely) called out by name, so the transparent Truth of the self, which is hidden by Maya and its effects, is to be attained through the instructions of a knower of Brahman, followed by reflection, meditation and so forth, but not through perverted arguments.

66. Therefore, the wise should, as in the case of disease and the like, personally strive by all the means in their power to be free from the bondage of the duality.

Then there is no need for the scriptures, religion, and the idea of God.  One has to be more rational to realize the Advaitic truth, which is the ultimate truth or scientific truth.:~Santthosh Kumaar

The personal gods, scriptures, worship and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.+

Religious or yogic gurus propagate that,  once a seeker identifies a Guru, he must totally surrender to the Guru, and then from there onwards, the spiritual journey is fully the Guru's responsibility, not his... Hence, the importance of choosing the right Guru is necessary,  but in pursuit of the truth, the Guru is not necessary because the truth is not theoretical.  Truth has to be ascertained by the seeker on his own through deeper self-search.

People who worship the Guru as God in human form and there is a danger that they might establish a regular religious sect in his name.  This is an unhappy development of the religious movement.

It is better to take guidance from a Gnani and try to attain the same realization that he had, rather than spend their energies on deifying him. Let us remember that to deify a Gnani is to defy wisdom”

Hindu religious literature is full of such aphorisms as ' there is no higher deity than the Guru; the Guru is the ultimate Truth and Deity. God and  Avatars (incarnations) are secondary to the Guru in importancethere is no higher refuge, no higher target, no higher destination than the Guru; the Guru is God Himself; God and the Guru are one; he who makes a  distinction between the Guru and God is ignorant and stupid; and scores of similar others. They abound both in Sanskrit and in modern Indian languages.

Remember:~

People are born into different sects and they remain as its follower. Most of the sects are founded by some gurus, thus Indian belief system is a Guru Cult, i.e. believes in the worship of the Guru as the Supreme Deity.

When a seeker could not get full enlightenment from his inherited belief system, then only he searches elsewhere. And tries to get enlightened further to clear the cobwebs of his understanding and seek guidance in his progress.

The path of religion, the path of yoga, and the path of wisdom were intended for different classes of people. The wisdom is for the advanced seekers of truth. It deals with the nature of the ultimate Truth and Reality. It is meant for superior aspirants who have an inner urge to know the truth and it is not for those who are immersed in earthly desires.

Remember:~

Katha Upanishad:~   This Ataman cannot be attained by the study of the Vedas, or by intelligence, nor by much hearing of sacred books. It is attained by him alone whom It chooses. To such a one Atman reveals Its own form. [Katha Upanishad Ch-II -23-P-20]

Mundaka Upanishad:~This Atman cannot be attained through study of the Vedas, nor through intelligence, nor through much learning. He who chooses Ataman—by him alone is Atman attained. It is Ataman that reveals to the seeker Its true nature. (   3–page-70 Mundaka Upanishad  Upanishads by Nikilanada)

When the Upanishad says:~  The human goal is to acquire Self-Knowledge and they indicate the personal gods, scriptures, worship, and rituals are not the means to Self –Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana, then why anyone should indulge in it. The religion, concept of individualized god, and scriptures are the great obstacle to realizing Advaitic truth or self-realization because they are based on the false self.   Therefore, one has to search for the ultimate truth without losing himself in the labyrinths of philosophy, he should indulge in deeper, inquiry, analysis, and reasoning and assimilate and realize it.

The seeker's goal is towards Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana and nothing other than it. Therefore,  the guru is needed in religious and yogic paths which are meant for the people who are not searching for the truth.  People are searching for worldly comforts and temporary peace in this physical existence.  They fear losing their physical identity and all that is connected to their physical identity.

When one realizes the physical identity (ego) is a false self and the true identity is the Soul, which is in the form of consciousness, then he realizes the fact that the fear factor is limited to the false self (ego)  within the false experience(waking). When the Self is not physical all the burden and bondage of the duality is a mere illusion created out of the consciousness.

Remember:~

Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana is necessary to realize the fact that, the universe, which appears in the form of the mind and disappears as nothingness (formless) is merely an illusion created out of nothingness, which is the consciousness.  Thus, consciousness is the source and the witness of the universe (mind), which comes and goes.  Thus,  it is necessary to know the formless witness of the three states in order to know the fact that, the true self is apart and free from the illusion or Mayawhich is in the form of birth, life, death, and the universe.  Therefore, it is necessary for the seeker to make sure that the three states are merely an illusion or Maya.

The body and the world are a reality within the waking experience, but the waking experience is merely an illusion or Maya, the same way as the dream body and the dream world were a  reality within the dream. The dream becomes unreal when the waking takes place.  Similarly,  the waking experience becomes unreal when the Advaitic wisdom dawns.

Remember:~

The one who thinks of himself as a Guru and the one who thinks of himself as chela (disciple) will not be able to get Self-Knowledge because both of them accepted themselves as the body. And all their understanding, practices, and knowledge are based on the false self(ego).  Therefore, the Guru –Shisya concept is a great obstacle in the pursuit of truth.

A Gnani never accepts himself as a  guru or accepted anyone as his disciple.  There is no division in his consciousness even though he is in the midst of diversity (world).

Thus, surrendering to any Guru or Godmen is not the means to Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.  The 'Self'  is the true guru. The seeker has to surrender to the self by realizing the fact that, the 'Self' is not physical. By realizing the 'Self' is not physical, he will be able to drop all the accumulated knowledge and inherited conditioning in the midst of duality and he finds freedom from experiencing the duality (waking) as a reality.

Remember:~

There is no fear of losing anything because only ignorance vanishes and one becomes fully aware of what is real and what is unreal in the midst of the unreal waking experience.

This will ensure that one has reached the right path of progress and will eventually get the knowledge of the "Self".  A true seeker should seek only truth nothing but the truth.  his sincerity and urge to know the truth will lead him, not his mental decisions.

If one takes the orthodox Advaitic path or yogic path, then the seeking is not spiritual but rather superficially mental for academic and self-aggrandizing pursuits driven by the ego. There can be no two thoughts about it.

The path of wisdom needs a deep study of the mind and its substance, so one can resolve the conflicts that a seeking mind has. Such deeper leads on towards better grasping, understanding, assimilation, and realization. Only if one has proper grasping he can have proper understanding.

Upanishads:~  They alone in this world are endowed with the highest wisdom who are firm in their conviction of the sameness and birthlessness of Ataman. The ordinary man does not understand their way. (Chapter IV — Alatasanti Prakarana95-P-188 in Upanishads by Nikilanada)

This passage indicates the fact that everything is Atamanwhich is present in the form of consciousness(spirit). The one who views and judges the three states,  on the base of his birth entity will not realize the fact that the man including the world is created and sustained and finally dissolves as the Soul, which is in the form of the consciousness. Thus, the Soul alone is, and all else is an illusion.

Thus, Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana is the aim of every human being. Since everyone thinks the physical body is the self their aim is misdirected and they focus their attention on materiality which makes one feel the duality (waking) as reality.

Millions are in search of the ultimate truth, and only one in million will be able to grasp and realize it.

By focusing more attention on the Soul, the  Self,   by talking, writing, and reading only of the Soul, the conviction grows and becomes firmer and the duality will fade away as reality.  The Soul is one’s true identity and will prevail as birthless and deathless, eternal.   the soul, which is present in the form of consciousness is the substance and the witness of the illusory three states.

Therefore, there is no need to study scriptures, or indulge in glorifying  GodS and Gurus performing religious rituals.  Since they are not the means to acquire Advaitic wisdom. It is only a waste of time and effort to indulge in those things.

The individual self is not real and is not accepted by many.  The Advaitic wisdom is based not on the individual self (ego).  Until people hold the ‘I’ (ego) as the witness, they will not reach the ultimate understanding.

Remember:~

When Upanishad itself declares:~ Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma~ All this (universe) is verily Brahman. By following back all of the relative appearances in the world, we eventually return to that from which it is all manifest – the non-dual reality (Chandogya Upanishad).

Therefore,  it is no use going a roundabout way, trace the Brahman which is the formless substance and the witness of the universe. The universe is present in the form of the mind.  By tracing the source of the mind ( universe)  one will be able to realize the ultimate truth or   Brahman.

The Soul, the Self,  is not perceptible to the senses. It is perceived by Reason. It is not perceptible as a thing with form and attributes. To those whose attention is fixed on the practical life within the practical world, it is very difficult to attain Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

It is also very difficult to see the  Soul as the Self. The attention toward the practical life within the practical world should be lessened by realizing the "Self" is not the 'I'. The attention has to be focused on the Soul, the Self, should be increased. So long as the attention is directed towards the 'I', the experience of birth, life, and death will prevail as a  reality. But when the attention is directed toward the Soul, the ignorance vanishes, and the sense of duality will disappear. Then there is unity in diversity.

What is the state of the ego ( physical self) when it has realized that the "Self"  is not the "I"? Such seekers have attained their pristine condition. The 'Self' is not visible to the physical eyes. The “Self” is not to be found in the world as a thing, entity, or object.  The 'Self' is above these and has neither beginning nor end.

A visible object has a beginning and an ending. Since the Soul which is present in the form of consciousness is invisible to the physical eyes.   The Soul or consciousness is without beginning and end. The Soul is always constant. Just as space is homogeneous everywhere, so is the Soul or the consciousness the same everywhere.:~Santthosh Kumaar
