All is consciousness.++****.

Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Brahmano hi pratisthaham ~ Brahman (God) is considered the all-pervading consciousness, which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27).

When Bhagavad Gita says, God is considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material then nothing has to be accepted as God other than consciousness.

All is consciousness.  The whole universe is consciousness. From the consciousness, the universe comes. When the universe disappears, the consciousness still remains without the form, time,  and space,  in the midst the form, time and space bringing unity in diversity

Self-realization is an impossibility, without understanding ‘what is the mind?’  ‘What is the substance of the mind?’ and “What is the source of the mind?”. The mind and its substance and its source are one,  in essence. That essence is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.  By realizing the consciousness alone, is real, all else is merely an illusion created out of the consciousness.

The world in which we exist is created out of single stuff. That single stuff is consciousness. This knowledge of the single stuff is Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana leads one to self-awareness.

Trying to make the mind still is an impossibility without Advaitic wisdom.  Thus, a perfect understanding of ‘what is what' is needed to realize the truth beyond the form, time and space.

The Soul is the Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. The world in which we exist is created out of consciousness.  The consciousness alone is the only reality the world in which we exist is merely an illusion created out of the consciousness.

This knowledge of the single stuff (consciousness) leads one to self-awareness. The self-awareness brings unity in diversity in the midst of duality. Unity in diversity in the midst of the dualistic illusion is the state of the Soul, the innermost self. The nature of the Soul is stillness.
Remember:~
If you take you and the universe in which you exist as reality then it is impossible to realize the 'Self' hidden by the universe.
Remember the universe is merely an illusion created out of the Soul, the Self, which is present in the form of the consciousness.
The universe hides the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.
That is why Sage Sri Sankara Says: ~ VC-63- Without causing the objective universe to vanish and without knowing the truth of the ‘Self’ how is one to achieve Liberation by the mere utterance of the word Brahman? — It would result merely in an effort of speech.
Sage Sri, Sankara says: ~   A buried treasure is not uncovered by merely uttering the words: “Come forth.” You must follow the right directions, dig, remove the stones and earth from above it, and then make it your own. In the same way, the pure truth of the Atman, which is buried under Maya and the effects of Maya, can be reached by meditation, contemplation, and other spiritual disciplines but never by perverse arguments.
Sage Sri Sankara: ~ VC~ All this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms, is nothing else but Brahman (Consciousness) which is absolutely free from all the limitations of human thought.
When you finally realize the ‘‘Self’ ‘is not you but the ‘‘Self’’ is the Soul then you will realize the world in which you exist is merely an illusion created out of the Soul. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness.
Sage Sri, Sankara says:~VC-47 All the effects of ignorance, root, and branch, are burnt down by the fire of knowledge, which arises from discrimination between these two—the Self and the non-Self.
Remember: ~ All is consciousness. The whole universe is consciousness. From consciousness, the universe comes. When the universe disappears, the consciousness still remains without form, time and space.
Sage Sri, Sankara taught that it was only through direct knowledge of Advaita that one could be enlightened.
Remember:~
As your inner conviction about the Soul grows you will be able to realize ‘what is the truth?’ and ‘what is the untruth?’
As we keep thinking and reasoning deeper and deeper, the truth will shines as pure awareness in the midst of the duality (waking).

The Soul, the ‘Self’ is your ultimate teacher. It is only your inner teacher that will walk with you to the goal, for the Soul is the goal.

Millions are searching for truth but one in million will realize it. You are one from that million because you have the intense urge to realize the ultimate truth.

When the seeker is ready, the guidance comes on its own.  An earnest desire to grow and a sense of deep commitment are the hallmarks of one who aspires to be a seeker.

When at the core of one’s being a person comes to realize he/she needs to seek a path for coming out of one’s unconscious and conditioned life, mysteriously the guidance appears to guide and shows the way.

Read repeatedly my postings and blogs and reflect and reason deeply which helps you to create a mental yardstick in your subconscious to discriminate between ‘what is the truth? And what is the untruth? When the subconscious is receptive and ready then it will start rejecting the untruth and finally then the Soul, the 'Self’ alone will prevail as the ultimate truth or Brahman or God.
There is no practice as such, but perfect understanding is needed to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atman Gnana.
A deeper Self-search reveals the fact that the Self is not physical, but the Self is formless Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Therefore, all the accumulated knowledge, experiences, and understanding based on the ego are falsehood because the ego is the false self, within the false experience (waking).
The ‘Self’ is not you. You are the ego. The ego is the waking entity. Thus, whatever is based on the waking entity is bound to be falsehood because the waking experience itself is a falsehood. All the Gurus and their teachings limit the ‘Self’ as individuality. Thus, they yield only half-truth.
There is a need to realize the three states, which come and go, are merely an illusion. All three states are made of single stuff. That single stuff is consciousness. Knowledge of the single stuff is Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana
It is your sincerity and seriousness that will make you reach the ultimate end of understanding and realization. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar

Consciousness is the ultimate reality.+

The Self is not within you, because the Self is not the body.   If the Self is not you, then why do you think the Self is within you.

Deeper self-search reveals the fact that you and the world are within the Soul, the Self.  Perfect understanding and assimilation lead to Advaitic-awareness.

The Soul, the Self which is present in the form of the consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material.

Consciousness pervades the whole universe. nothing must be accepted as the 'Self' other than consciousness.

The Self is the Soul the cause of the universe. The Soul, the Self is hidden by the universe. It is hidden by the universe because the universe is a dualistic illusion or Maya created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.
Consciousness, the God is Self-evident. It is not established by extraneous proofs. It is not possible to deny God because God is the very essence of the one who denies God. God is the basis of all kinds of knowledge, presuppositions, and proofs.

The Soul is the witness-consciousness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.

Remember:~

The Soul is the Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. The nature of the Soul is nondualistic awareness. The nondualistic awareness is real and eternal. The nature of the mind is physical awareness.

The mind is present in the form of the universe. The universe appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality). The duality is physical awareness and the nonduality is Atmic-awareness.

On the standpoint of the Soul, the Self, the physical awareness (duality or the universe) is merely an illusion.

The illusion is created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Thus, there is no difference between illusion and reality because both are one in essence.

It is not possible to grasp the Advaitic truth,  if one is stuck to the ‘I’~ consciousness.

The  I-awareness is physical existence. Physical existence is present in the form of the mind. The mind is present in the form of the universe. The universe appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality).

The one which becomes duality and nonduality is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Thus, there is no second thing exists other than the soul or consciousness. Thus, the soul or consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

The Soul or consciousness (Soul) is the substance and the witness of the duality.  The duality is present in the form of mind.

The mind is present in the form of the universe. The universe appears as waking or dream, and diapers as deep sleep.

The one which is aware of the coming and going of the three states is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity, but the  Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

When the Soul becomes aware of its formless non-dual true nature in the midst of duality it is called Self–awareness or Atmic-awareness. It is foolish to limit consciousness only to duality because the consciousness pervades all the three states

The consciousness is the shoreless Non-dual Ocean. Consciousness is beyond form, time and space. Consciousness is beyond instinct, intellect, imagination, and inspiration. It is unconscious of its true nature when it is in illusion. Only beyond illusion, it is in its true nature.

“Truth must be discovered, but there is no formula for its discovery. You must set out on the uncharted sea, and the uncharted sea is yourself. You must set out to discover yourself…”

The Soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness itself is Guru. It may appear in any form and guides the sincere and serious seekers towards the nondual destination.

The seeker has to take refuge in the Self, the indivisible consciousness which is beyond the reach of words and thought.

The seeker has to discover the formless substance and witness of all the three states in order to know the Self is not limited to the physical entity but to the whole universe.

A true Gnani who on account of his being free from the illusion of duality expounds the essence of the non- duality to fellow seekers.

The means to the attainment of Knowledge are the  discrimination between things permanent and transient, and the desire for spiritual freedom.

Prejudice is like poison. Unless purged out of one's mind in the early stages, it can spread like cancer and make one incapable of differentiating between reality and unreality.

Religion is not a means to Self-Knowledge. People believe that their own religion is superior to all others, but religion is based on the form, whereas the ultimate truth is based on the formless.

Discrimination between things permanent and transient; this consists of the discrimination that Soul, which is in the form of consciousness alone is the permanent substance and that all things other then it is merely an illusion.

The material enjoyment, and sex-pleasures, is being part of the mirage and they are being results of action. Whatever based on action makes one think the duality as reality.

If the duality is accepted as reality, then there is no escape from illusion, which one experiences as reality.

Until one thinks his conduct is the means for freedom he is bound to believe the birth, life, death, and the universe as reality.

Until one thinks he is born, lives and dies in this world, he remains ignorant of the truth.

The consciousness is the ultimate reality.  Consciousness is without a second. Consciousness is Existence. Unreality is ignorance and all other material objects.:~Santthosh Kumaar

Inner longing to know the truth, sharpness to grasp and courage to accept the truth leads self-awareness***

As we keep digging deeper and deeper, the truth will shine as pure awareness in the midst of the duality (waking).

The soul, the innermost self is our ultimate teacher. It is only our inner teacher that will walk with us to the goal, for the soul is the goal. Millions are searching form truth but one in million will realize it.

Deliberate daily exercise in discrimination between real and unreal and renunciation of the false is real renunciation.

Truth is One; It is called by different names. All people are seeking the same Truth..... Everyone is going toward the ultimate goal. They will all realize the ultimate truth or Brahman if they have sincerity and longing to realize it.

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell. ~ Buddha

Inner longing to know the truth, sharpness to grasp and courage to accept the truth leads one to self-awareness. People are immersed in ignorance and remain experiencing the illusion as reality, and they do not exert themselves to know the reality of their true existence.  By clinging to things unreal they think their experience of birth, life, death, and the world as reality.

By quoting the Scriptures and sacrifice to the gods, by performing rituals and worship the deities, but there is no freedom without the realization of one’s identity with the soul or consciousness, which is the real Self.

There is no hope of immortality by means of riches.  Action or inaction cannot be the cause of freedom because inaction also is action and action and inaction are part of the duality. People think by using lesser words or by keeping silence the truth emerges on its own, but they keep hoping and remain in the prison of duality.

Seeker of truth has to strive his best for freedom from experiencing the illusion as reality and fixing his attention on the formless substance and witness of the three states. The formless substance and witness are one in essence. That essence is consciousness. The consciousness alone is real and eternal,  and it is the source of the mind, which rises as the universe and subsides back as consciousness.

Having grasped, understood the ultimate truth intellectually, one should recover oneself, immersed in the illusory experience of ocean of birth, life, death, and the world by means of devotion to the right discrimination.

Seeker of truth, having commenced the path of the Self- realization has to give up all physical-based theoretical practices and try to realize the fact that, the waking experience in which the individual experiences birth, life, death, and the world as reality is also is as unreal as the dream. By realizing the formless substance and witness of the three states as consciousness one becomes free from experiencing the duality as reality.

Blinded with the illusion very few grasp the nondualistic or Advaitic truth. Only a few escapes from the web of illusion, only a few will be able to acquire nondualistic or Advaitic wisdom.

The non-duality has to be grasped in the midst of the waking experience (duality or mind or universe).  That is, being aware of the truth and untruth, reality and unreality. And able to establish himself in the truth and able to view and judge, the three states, on the base of the soul, which is ultimate truth or Brahman.

It is unfortunate people are stuck with their accumulated ideas based on the false self, and imagine about nonduality and say nothing exists other than the source. But a Gnani says everything exists (illusion) but everything is created out of the soul (spirit or consciousness).  Everything rises from the Soul and subsides as the Soul (spirit or consciousness). Thus, the whole diversity has no relevance, on the standpoint of the soul as self.

Everything (illusion or matter) is nothingness (spirit or consciousness) realizing the three states are created out nothingness. Nothingness is the nature of the Soul because there is no second thing exists other than the Soul (Spirit or consciousness), the Self.   Thus, consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman.

Advaita is neither a philosophy nor a theory.+

A Gnani will easily appreciate the high flights of Sage Sankara’s Advaitic wisdom, which is one of the 'most majestic structures and valuable products of the Genius of man in his search for Truth. :~Santthosh Kumaar

  • Nand Kumar BehlBini P Varikattumalil and 2 others like this.

  • Natesh Mahadevan:~  what exactly is advaitic wisdom...

  • Rajesh Sachdeva :~  and what exactly it is not..

  • Santthosh Kumaar :~  Advaita is neither a philosophy nor a theory.   Advaita is an independent path. Advaita is the nature of the Soul, the Self.  The duality is mere an illusion created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.  There is no duality in the essence.

There is no need to study scripters or philosophy to acquire the knowledge of the Soul, the Self. To realize the truth beyond form, time and space the seeker has to drop all the accumulated egocentric knowledge.

Sage Sankara varied his practical advice and doctrinal teaching according to the people he was amongst. He never advised them to give up their particular religion or beliefs or metaphysics completely; he only told them to give up the worst features of abuse: at the same time he showed just one step forward towards the truth.

Sage Sankara was extremely precise and careful in his choice of words.  Sage  Sankara' gave religious, ritual or dogmatic instruction to the mass, but pure philosophy only to the few who could rise to it. Hence, the interpretation of his writings by commentators is often confusing because they mix up the two viewpoints. Thus, they may assert that ritual is a means of realizing Brahman, which is absurd.  Sage Sankara founded his Advaita Vedanta either on reason independent of Sruti or on Sruti confirmed by reason."

Sage Sankara indicates: ~   The transparent truth of the soul, the innermost self, which is hidden within the illusion, requires (for its extraction) excavation, the removal of ignorance.

The illusory form, time and space hides the truth without getting rid of the truth will never reveal.  Thus, deeper self-search is very much necessary in order to grasp and realize the truth, which is beyond the form, time and space.

That is why Sage Sankara said:~ Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many gods as you please, observe ceremonies and sing devotional hymns, but liberation will never come, even after a hundred aeons, without realizing the Oneness.

People’s observation is based on dualistic (matter or body or ego) perspective, whereas a Gnanis judgment is based on the nondualistic (soul or spirit or consciousness) perspective. There is neither the projection (the world in we all exist), nor the projector exist as a reality, when the soul, the innermost self remains its own awareness.

The Soul remains in its own awareness when wisdom dawns. The purpose of the spiritual pursuit is to realize the whole universe in, which we exist is created out of single stuff. And that single stuff is the soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. The Soul is the Self.

The knowledge of the single stuff is Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. The single stuff is the soul, which is present in the form of the consciousness

On the standpoint of the Soul, the Self, the three states are mere an illusion. Thus, the three states (witnessed) and the soul (witness) are one in essence. That essence is consciousness.

  • Sage Sankara himself had often said that his philosophy was based on Sruti, or revealed scripture.  This may be because Sage Sri, Sankara addressed the ordinary man, who finds security in the idea of causality and thus in the idea of God—and Revelation is indispensable to prove the latter.  He believed that those of superior intelligence, have no need of this idea of divine causality, and can therefore dispense with Sruti and arrive at the truth of Non-Dualism by pure reason.

  • Thus the whole universe in, which we exist, created out of consciousness. Thus, there is no second thing exists other than consciousness. Hence, it is nondual. Thus, the knowledge of the single stuff is nondualistic or Advaitic wisdom. Becoming more and more soulcentric leads the seeker towards Advaitic self-awareness.
  •
Q:~Natesh Mahadevan:~  what am asking is - how does a person transcend that dualistic observation... how does one enter that knowledge of the single stuff... and is that a kind of knowledge which can be taught... what is that consciousness which creates worlds and yet doesn't want you to perceive it...

  •
Santthosh Kumaar:~  First one has to know ‘what is the mind” What is the substance of the mind? and ‘what is the source of the mind? in order to realize ‘what is what’?

Realize the fact that, You are not the self.  You and your experience of the world are part of the illusion. The Self is not you.  If the self is not you, then the question of your body, your ego, your memories and your experience of the world and your karma is nothing to do with the Soul, the Self.

The self is the formless soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.   The Soul, the Self, witnesses you and your experience of the world together.   It is the Soul that has to get rid of the illusion, by realizing, you along with the world and the innermost self are one in essence. That essence is the soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Thus, you and your experience of the world are made of a single stuff, which is the soul, the innermost self.  Thus, it is necessary to realize the Self is not within our body (you) but it is hidden within the world in which we exists as its formless substance and the witness.

  • Thus, our bodies and our experience of the world are made of the same stuff. Realizing this truth will lead one to Advaitic Self-awareness in the midst of duality.

  • The ego is the physical mind, whereas the mind is present in the form of the universe. The universe appears as waking or dream (duality), and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality).  A perfect understanding of ‘what is what’ is necessary to realize that form, time, and space are merely an illusion created out of single stuff.

How does one know that the scriptures are true? ++****

People think it is very difficult to acquire Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. It is very difficult to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana because it has been adulterated in the past with religion, yoga, and theoretical philosophies.

Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana has to be acquired carefully and gradually, through deeper self-search and perfect understanding of 'what is what'.

In the past, spirituality was treated not as a separate subject but as a part of religion, but it is not so. Religion is based on the form (egocentric) and spirituality is based on formless (soulcentric). Therefore, spirituality is nothing to do with religion and yoga.  Thus, the path of wisdom has to be bifurcated from the path of religion and yoga and all egocentric paths and practices, in order to remove all the obstructions which blocking the realization of ultimate truth.   Spirituality is a rational inquiry regarding all that is known to exist.

Whatever stage one maybe is he is receptive and able to devote himself exclusively to a pursuit of the ultimate truth or Brahman, by means of soulcentric reason leads him to non-dualistic or Advaitic Self-Awareness.

The seeker should pursue this quest until all his questions will be answered until his doubts and confusion will disappear and solved.

If God is to be Almighty he must be free to change his mind. If he is changeable, He cannot be Truth, as per my definition.

v  How does one know that he is related to God?

v  Has he seen God?

That God created the world, that God has manifested himself is merely supposed. It may be, but how does he know?

v  How does he know that the scriptures are true?

The Sages, Seer, or prophets might have been mistaken. To accept these scriptures without reasoning is to possess the slave mentality.

One should not start his pursuit of truth with the idea of God, because he does not know whether there is a God or not. There is no proof. If anyone mentions the religious God then he must prove the existence of such Gods based on blind belief because merely belief cannot be accepted as proof.

One need not doubt that mystics saw God. That they saw visions may be an undeniable fact. However, the question is “Was what they saw the Truth?" They no doubt had such vision, but they never stopped to inquire if their visions are true.

Swami Vivekananda: ~
THE MASSES IN INDIA CRY TO SIXTY MILLION GODS AND STILL DIE LIKE DOGS. WHERE ARE THESE GODS?

Knowing this, stand up and fight! Not one step back that is the idea. ... Fight it out, whatever comes. Let the stars move from the sphere! Let the whole world stand against us! Death means only a change of garment. What of it? Thus fight! You gain nothing by becoming cowards. ... Taking a step backward, you do not avoid any misfortune. You have cried to all the gods in the world. Has misery ceased? The masses in India cry to sixty million gods and still die like dogs. Where are these gods? ... The gods come to help you when you have succeeded. So what is the use? Die game. ... This bending the knee to superstitions, this selling yourself to your own mind does not befit you, my soul. You are infinite, deathless, birthless. Because you are the infinite spirit, it does not befit you to be a slave. ... Arise! Awake! Stand up and fight! Die if you must. There is none to help you. You are the entire world. Who can help you?~ Swami Vivekananda
(Delivered In San Francisco, on May 28, 1900) -The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda/Volume 1/Lectures And Discourses/The Gita II

Spiritualists take all the facts, science, religion, art etc. and then ask of them, which is the truth? One collects as much evidence as possible, even contradictory, and then proceeds to examine all of it. One is not opposed to anything, but says, "inquire, analyze and reason on the true base, how far is it true?”

Belief in tradition and scriptures as true leads to a path of fanaticism. Belief, believer and belief system are part of the duality. The duality is a mere mirage from the ultimate standpoint.    Due to fear injected by belief system to the avoidance of the "wrath of God," the hope of heaven or salvation, or the imagined "end of suffering people are stuck to their inherited beliefs.

"God" exists because "you" exist, not vice versa. When awake to the true nature this is known immediately.

Sage Sri, Sankara says Atman is Brahman, and everything is Brahman is scientific declaration not religious or yogic. Sage Sri, Sankara and  Sage Sri, Goudpada are more scientific than anyone else in the world. Since the real Advaitic essence is hidden it cannot be got without the inner (mental) journey.

Sage Sri, Goudpada says that:- The merciful Veda teaches karma and Upasana to people of lower and middling intellect, while Jnana is taught to those of higher intellect.

Gnana here is the knowledge uncontradictable truth or scientific truth. Thus, their scientific truth of the whole not a part is declared by  Sage Sri, Sankara 1400 years back and thought only to those of higher intellect. Thus karma and Upasana, yoga and orthodoxy have to be bifurcated in order to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman.

Advaitic Wisdom is for those are capable of inquiring into their own existence to know and realize the ultimate truth or Brahman.:~Santthosh Kumaar
