Moksha only means knowing the ultimate truth or Brahman.+

The real Moksha or freedom is to realize the fact that ‘I’-awareness is merely a physical awareness. Physical awareness is not Self-awareness. The Self –awareness is when the formless Soul, the  Self remains aware of its own awareness.

The world in which you exist is nothing but an illusion created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

When you realize the ‘Self ‘ is not you but the ‘Self’ is the Soul then you will realize the world in which you exist is merely an illusion created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Thus, you, your experience of birth, life, death, and the world are merely an illusion created out of the consciousness, the consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God.

The world is both real and unreal. It is real because it is a manifestation of consciousness, but is unreal, in the sense, that it is not absolute and eternal like consciousness itself.

People's approach is more practical, and they stuck with the reality of the world, they take it as real. That is why all the confusion.

In Self-awareness-- the witness and witnessed are one in essence. That essence is consciousness. There is no second thing that exists other than consciousness.

Thus, whatever is seen, known, believed, and experienced as a person is a reality within the waking experience (duality) but the waking experience (duality) itself is merely an illusion created out of consciousness.

A person who refuses to accept the world is an illusion ~ and he stamped his foot on the ground to refute to show the world is real ignores that in the dream he would do exactly the same--stamp his dream foot on the ground and assert it to be real.

A Gnani is fully aware of the fact that the world in which he exists is a passing show. The witness of the passing show is the Soul; the  Self is real and eternal. A Gnani vision is based on the Soul, not on his body.

In Self-awareness, the body is not the body, but it is the consciousness, the ego is not the ego, but it is consciousness, and the world is not the world, but it is consciousness even though they exist but their unreal nature is exposed.

Just as the dream becomes unreal when the waking takes place, the waking also becomes unreal when Advaitic wisdom dawns.

Gnani and Illusion:~

A King who was greatly incensed at the wisdom taught by Gnani that everything here below is an illusion? He wanted to teach the exponent of this doctrine a lesson. So he invited the then Gnani to his palace. That Gnani went there and stoutly maintained that everything in this world is an illusion.

The king had arranged to let loose a hungry lion against Gnani. The beast rushed at Gnani who took to a precipitate flight to save himself.

'Oh, Venerable Sir,' shouted the king, 'why do you run so fast seeing that the lion is only an illusion?'

'Oh, king,' said Gnani in the course of his flight, 'my running too is an illusion. Everything in this world is an illusion.’

Similarly, we all are searching for truth within the illusory universe or Maya not being aware of the fact that the illusion is created out of single stuff. That single stuff is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Thus, searching for the truth in the illusion with the illusory Self, within the illusory experience, has to be an illusion. The illusion is created and sustained, and finally, dissolves as the Soul or the consciousness. There is no second thing other than consciousness. Thus, consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God.

The wisdom dawns in the midst of duality (falsehood or waking). When wisdom dawns the universe (waking) will not disappear, but its unreal nature is exposed. And one realizes the unity in diversity in the consciousness because consciousness pervades everything and everywhere in the universe. Thus everything is consciousness.

Consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman. Brahman is God. Thus God is the whole, not part.

To get Self-realization or God-realization the seeker has to drop all the accumulated knowledge and start afresh.

Remember

The Duality and the non-duality are philosophic terms but in perfect perception one never perceives the real and the unreal at the same time.

Till you think the mind is within the body you will not be able to realize the truth beyond the form, time, and space. A deeper self-search reveals the fact that. The mind is the universe in which you exist.

When the mind (I) is there the universe in which you exist is there. If the mind disappears the universe in which you exist also disappears.

You and your senses and your experience of the world are made of the same stuff. That stuff is the Soul, which is present in the form of the Spirit. From the standpoint of the Soul or the Spirit, you and your senses and your experience of the world are nothing but the spirit. Thus, the Spirit alone is real and you and your senses and your experience of the world are merely an illusion.

Moksha is interpreted in various ways. It means the dispelling of ignorance, freeing the Soul, the Self from the bondage of the illusory experience of birth, life, death, and the world--all other meanings regarding heaven, etc. are all imagination. Moksha only means knowing the ultimate truth or Brahman. That is why they have coined the word Jivanmukta.

The Soul is the Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness.   Consciousness pervades everything and everywhere in all three states.  The three states are nothing but an illusion created out of consciousness.  Thus, consciousness is all-pervading.

Remember:~

The seeker should realize that the Soul is the cause of the form, time, and space and it itself is uncaused. The form is consciousness. Time is consciousness and space is also consciousness. Therefore, there is no second thing that exists other than consciousness. Thus,  consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

The universe is the product of ignorance. The five senses (body) are nothing to do with the Soul, the Self because the Soul, the Self is ever formless. From the standpoint, the Soul, the Self, and the universe in which the body (you) exists are merely an illusion.

The dream universe and the five senses (dream body) become unreal when the waking takes place. Similarly, the waking experience in which you and the waking world exist becomes unreal when wisdom dawns. The wisdom dawns when the soul remains in its own awareness in the midst of the duality.

The Soul is the Self. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. The Soul is the witness-consciousness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.

The Soul, the Self. The Soul or consciousness is Self-illumined. So how can the body which is inert (insentient) and illumined by an external agent be consciousness, which is present only within the waking or dream?

The Soul or consciousness is apart from the three states and permanent, as it endures even after the death of the body and the world within the waking or dream.

Even the subtle body consists of many parts and is unstable. It is also an object of perception and is changeable, limited, and non-existent by nature. So how can this be the true self, when the body exists only within the duality (universe)?

The immutable Soul, the substratum of the ego, is thus different from these two bodies and is the true Self. The Soul or consciousness is the formless witness of the three states.  And it is present in everything and everywhere in all the three states and yet transcends them all.:~Santthosh Kumaar

To get self-realization or Moksha no qualification is actually needed.+

Until you think the mind is within the body you will not be able to realize the truth beyond the form, time, and space. A deeper self-search reveals the fact that. The mind is the universe in which you exist.

When the mind (I) is present then only the universe in which you exist is present.

The Spirit alone is real and you and your senses and your experience of the world are merely an illusion.

To get realization or freedom no qualification is actually needed. It is possible to have the realization of the Advaitic truth here, in this very life.

The seeker has to become aware of the existence of the formless witness apart from the three states. The formless witness is the Soul, the Self, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states.

The seeker has to indulge in deeper Self-search to realize the fact that,  the Self is neither the waking entity (you),  nor the Self is the dream entity,  but the Self is the formless Soul, which witnesses the coming and going of the three states, in succession.

This truth has to be mentally grasped and assimilated to realize the formless Soul, the Self is nothing to do with the three states. From the standpoint of the formless soul, the innermost self, the three states are merely an illusion.

When the inner conviction arises that the Self is not ‘I’ but the Self is the ‘I-less Soul then whatever is based on the ‘I’ is merely an illusion. The illusion (duality) is created out of single stuff.   That single stuff is the soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Till you realize you and your world are made of the same stuff.  And that stuff is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, he Soul, the 'Self' remains in the web of form, time, and space.

When the Soul wakes up in its own awareness, the illusory form, space, becomes one with the nature of the Soul. In Self-awareness, there, nor you, nor me, nor others, nor the world, because there is unity in diversity. That is oneness in the midst of duality.
Thus, you have to realize the fact that, the whole universe in which you exist is made of single stuff is very much necessary to realize the Advaitic truth, which is beyond form, time, and space.

Sage Sankara:~  VC~.63: "Without knowing and examining the external world, one can’t know the Truth, as the idea that the external world exists, won't go. It can go only by an inquiry into the nature of the external world.

A deeper self-search reveals the fact that by inquiring -Who Am I?  wisdom will not dawn. Who Am I?  inquiry is only for beginners and it is inadequate and useless in the later stages.

That is why Sage Sankara:~  VC~.61~ For one who has been bitten by the serpent of Ignorance, the only remedy is the knowledge of Brahman. Of what avail are the Vedas and (other) Scriptures, Mantras (sacred formulae), and medicines to such a one?

VC-  v6~ Let erudite scholars quote all the scripture, let Gods be invoked through sacrifices, let elaborate rituals be performed, let personal gods be propitiated---yet, without the realization of one‘s identity with the Self, there shall be no liberation for the individual, not even in the lifetimes of a hundred Brahmas put together.

Sage Sankara goes on to say: ~A sickness of not cured by saying the word “medicine.” You must take the medicine. Liberation does not come by merely saying the word “Brahman.” Brahman must be experienced. Until you allow this apparent universe to dissolve in consciousness until you have realized Brahman, how can you find liberation just by saying the word Brahman? The result is merely noise. Until a man has destroyed his enemies and taken possession of the splendor and wealth of the kingdom, he cannot become a king by simply saying “I am a king.”

A buried treasure is not uncovered by merely uttering the words: “Come forth.” You must follow the right directions, dig, remove the stones and earth from above it, and then make it your own. In the same way, the pure truth of the Atman, which is buried under Maya and the effects of Maya, can be reached by meditation, contemplation, and other spiritual disciplines but never by subtle arguments.

The mind becomes still when ignorance vanishes. The ignorance vanishes, when wisdom dawns. When wisdom dawns, then the Soul, the Self, remains in its own awareness in the midst of the duality.:~Santthosh Kumaar

The dream becomes unreal, when waking takes place , the same way when the wisdom dawns the waking becomes unreal.+

The seeker's goal is to realize the Atman (consciousness).  The Atman (consciousness) is nothing but Brahman. By realizing Atman (consciousness) as Brahman (ultimate truth) is truth realization or Self-Realization. There is no need to follow the religion, study the scriptures, or glorify the Gods and the Gurus.

There is no need to follow the path of doubts and confusion by losing oneself in the labyrinths of philosophy to get self-realization. The path of wisdom is an easier path.

By mentally tracing the source of the mind, from where it rises and subsides, one becomes aware of the fallacy of the mind. The mind rises as the universe and subsides as the nonduality ( deep sleep).  The mind rises from consciousness and subsides as consciousness.

Make sure the Self is not ‘I’. If the Self is not then whatever you have seen, known, believed, and experienced as an individual is bound to be a falsehood.

If the Self is not ‘I’ then there is no other ‘I’ because the ‘I’ exist only in the domain of duality. The Self is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. The nature of the Soul is ever nondual. The ‘I’ is an illusory nature of the ‘I’. the ‘I’ appears and disappears.

Thus holding the ‘I’ as the self and trying to assimilate Advaitic truth is trying to drain the ocean drop by drop.

What is this “I”? The ‘I’ is the mind. The body and the world together are the mind. If the mind is there, then only you and your experience of the world are there. If the mind is not there, then you and your mind cease to exist.

The mind is present in the form of the universe’ the universe appears as a waking or dream(duality), and disappears into deep sleep (non-duality).

If the ‘I’ is an illusion,  then it is no use of inquiring ‘Who Am I? . Till one holds the ‘I’ as the Self,  is caught up in the prison of duality.

Sage Sankara:~  VC~.63: "Without knowing and examining the external world, one can’t know the Truth, as the idea that the external world exists, won't go. It can go only by an inquiry into the nature of the external world.

A deeper self-search reveals the fact that by inquiring- Who Am I?  wisdom will not dawn. Who Am I?  inquiry is only for beginners and it is inadequate and useless in the later stages.

That is why in Bhagvad Gita: ~ The permanent is always there, only the transient I comes and goes. (2.18)

Until one gets convinced that the ‘I’ is not the Self, he will remain in ignorance of the formless  Soul the Self. If self is formless, then the experience of birth, life, death, and the world is bound to be an illusion. Therefore, it is necessary to know and realize the fact that,  the self is not the form, but it is formless before indulging in the inner (mental) journey.

The waking and dream emerge from consciousness. The emergence of the waking or dreams does not make any difference to the consciousness. The consciousness remains unchanged and unaffected by the waking or dream, even though both the waking or dream objects and the waking or dreams are aspects of the consciousness.

The dreamer would not realize that dream objects and dreams are simply aspects of the consciousness unless he wakes up from the dream. Once the waking takes place the dream becomes unreal, the same way when wisdom dawns the waking becomes unreal.  The unchanging reality behind the waking or dream experience is consciousness.

The waking or dream experiences are the external manifestation of consciousness. As long as a person is caught up in the phenomenal existence, he does not see the unity behind the multiplicity.

When one wakes up to consciousness as it is in itself, not perceived or interpreted, or noumenal level he becomes aware of the one, non-dual consciousness, which was the cause of the three states.

Thus, consciousness is supreme. It is the reality. It has no beginning and end. It is eternal and beyond the reach of pain and pleasure. The consciousness is indivisible, immeasurable, without names and forms. It cannot be avoided, as it is present everywhere.

The consciousness cannot be grasped, as it is transcendent. It cannot be contained in anything, as it contains everything. Consciousness is indefinable, for it is beyond the range of action and speech. Thus, the consciousness is reality itself, pure and absolute consciousness.

The ultimate reality is defined as that which persists. Consciousness exists in all periods of time and remains the same in the past, present, and future.

Consciousness is the ultimate reality that exists both in the manifest and the unmanifested. The mind, which is in the form of the universe arises out of consciousness. Consciousness exists in all three states. The mind rises from it and merges back into consciousness

Consciousness is the substratum and the three states. Consciousness is like the ocean and the mind is like a wave. The wave exists in the ocean and merges back into the ocean. Similarly, the mind or universe is nothing but consciousness. Everything is consciousness. Therefore, consciousness is a principle of utter simplicity. There is no duality in consciousness for no qualities are found in the concept of consciousness.

It is also simple in the sense that it is not subject to inner contradictions, which would make it changeable and transitory. To understand the nature of consciousness and to speak of it, the consciousness in its reality is not a metaphysical postulate that can be proved logically, but it must be grasped and realized mentally not through argument or logical conclusions but perfect reasoning. Thus, consciousness is one: It is not a `He or She ', a personal being; nor is it an impersonal concept. It is that state which comes about when all subject-object distinctions are obliterated.:~Santthosh Kumaar

Sage Sri Sankara’:~ ‘There is nothing else but Brahman.+

Sage Sankara said: ~ Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many Gods as you please, observe ceremonies, and sing devotional hymns, but the liberation will never come, even after a hundred aeons, without realizing the Oneness.

Philosophy does not begin with the ultimate truth. The ultimate truth has to be proved, not assumed. Hence, so-called philosophers who take Brahman for granted are not philosophers at all.

Most Advaitin scholars will teach that all is yourself, but none of them can show that this is so, none has analyzed it scientifically, and none can prove it. Rational proof is required so that one arrives at knowing the ultimate truth or Brahman i.e. Gnana.  Theirs is mere dogma, parrotism, a repetition of what they read in scripture.  Authoritarianism merely assumes as true what another says, but what has yet to be proved.

Sage Sankara’s whole teaching can be summed up into one sentence, ‘There is nothing else but Brahman. He says that Absolute Existence, Absolute Knowledge, and Absolute Bliss are real. The universe is not real. He says that Brahma and Atman are one.

The ultimate and the Absolute Truth is the Self, which is one though appearing as many different individuals. The individual has no reality. Only the Self is real; the rest, mental and physical are but passing appearances.

The Self is not you. The Self is the  Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. The Soul is genderless because it is a formless, timeless, and spaceless existence.  You are part of the illusory world.   Sex or sexual activities will not awaken the Soul from the sleep of ignorance.  Sex is nothing to do with the sexless Soul, the Self, which is ever formless, timeless, and spaceless existence.

Those who promise enlightenment through sexual intercourse are chosen the path of ignorance.  Thus, tantric sex is nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman.

Even Sage Sankara when challenged that he knew nothing about sexual intercourse, went and had intercourse with a widow.

The story in Sage Sankara's life of going to Benares and occupying the body of another man and then having sexual intercourse with his wife is a story cooked up by the orthodoxy by hiding the real fact.

The story of his Soul temporarily occupying the body of somebody else whilst doing that is only sheer imagined by the orthodox Advaitic followers.
Sage Sankara had the scientific spirit and when told by Saraswathi the woman that he was talking emptily about sex, being a Sanyasi, he at once went to learn the truth by having actual intercourse himself and thus learning by experiment and observation.
Sundaralahari is a sexual poem that has been attributed to Sage Sankara may not have been written by him Sage Sankara stressed the great importance of freeing our use of words from all ambiguity. :~Santthosh Kumaar

Bhagavan Buddha:- We ourselves must walk the path.+

Bhagavan Buddha:~ No one saves us but ourselves.  No one can, and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.

THE MASSES IN INDIA CRY TO SIXTY MILLION GODS AND STILL DIE LIKE DOGS. WHERE ARE THESE GODS?

Knowing this, stand up and fight! Not one step back that is the idea. ... Fight it out, whatever comes. Let the stars move from the sphere! Let the whole world stand against us! Death means only a change of garment. What of it? Thus fight! You gain nothing by becoming cowards. ... Taking a step backward, you do not avoid any misfortune. You have cried to all the gods in the world. Has misery ceased? The masses in India cry to sixty million gods and still die like dogs. Where are these gods? ... The gods come to help you when you have succeeded. So what is the use? Die game. ... This bending the knee to superstitions, this selling yourself to your own mind does not befit you, my soul. You are infinite, deathless, birthless. Because you are the infinite spirit, it does not befit you to be a slave. ... Arise! Awake! Stand up and fight! Die if you must. There is none to help you. You are the entire world. Who can help you?
- Swami Vivekananda

Kabir views Humanity as being caught up in the illusion, searching for Ultimate Reality in all the wrong places, always seeking It outside of ourselves in various rituals, temples, forests, and mountaintops, not realizing That for which we seek is already hidden within us.

The ultimate truth or Brahman dwells within the three states like fragrance in the flower; Musk lies within the Musk-deer yet seeks it afar." Until one traces the truth within the three states the illusion of birth, life, death, and the world is experienced as reality.

In Vedas, God has been described as:~

Rig Veda: ~ 'Prajnanam Brahma'- Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.

Do not accept any other God other than the Soul. The Soul is God in truth,  Nothing is real but the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. Nothing matters but realize  God in truth. God in truth is everywhere and in everything. Let these words be inscribed in your subconscious.

God in truth is hidden by the illusory universe. God in truth alone is real and eternal and all else is an illusion.

Brahman is merely a word to indicate the ultimate truth or God in truth.  The ultimate truth itself is God in truth.

The nature of the Soul, the Self:~

  Sakshi (Witness)

  Chetan (conscious)

  Nirguna (Without form and properties).

  Nitya (eternal)

  Shuddha (pure)

  Buddha (omniscient)

   Mukta (unattached).

All this the above is the nature of the soul, the innermost self. Thus the innermost self is God.

That is Atman is Brahman.  All individualized gods and goddesses are false gods based on the false self(ego or waking entity)  within the false experience(waking).  All these individualized Gods are barred by Vedas.   In self-awareness, nothing exists other than consciousness (Atman or Soul). thus consciousness is the ultimate truth and the ultimate truth is Brahman or God.

Physical & mental discipline such as Karma, Mantra Yaga, Yajna, Puja Japa blind devotion to deity or guru is not the tool for liberation or freedom from experiencing the duality as reality. It is a dualistic cult including tradition Advaitic orthodoxy propagates this discipline has no value if one is seeking truth to get non-dual moksha.

So, Yajur Veda indicates that:~

They sink deeper in darkness those who worship sambhuti. (Sambhuti means created things, for example, table, chair, idol, etc. (Yajurved 40:9).

Those who worship visible things born of the prakrti, such as the earth, trees, bodies (human and the like) in place of God are enveloped in still greater darkness, in other words, they are extremely foolish, fall into an awful hell of pain and sorrow, and suffer terribly for a long time."(Yajur Veda 40:9).

The religion of the Veda knows no idols
Max Müller says:~"The religion of the Veda knows no idols; the worship of idols in India is a secondary formation, a degradation of the more primitive worship of ideal gods."

Therefore, there was no individual god or temples and worship in Vedic religion, which existed prior to Buddhism.  Thus the individualized gods and temples must have been built later on when the worships of the idol were introduced.  Thus the Vedic religion which existed in the past was free from idol and nature worship and idol worshiping rituals.

Thus, the present day’s worship of individual gods, created things, nature, and humans are against Vedic teachings, and it looks like it has been fabricated and introduced by priestcraft. Since it, has passed on from one generation to the next it is hard for the people to believe the truth of their own religion, because they have sentimentally and emotionally involved in it and they refuse to accept anything else other than their inherited beliefs.

It is impossible to find and realize the truth via religion and scriptural study. Even Upanishads confirm this.

That is why Sage Gaudapada says:~
The merciful Veda teaches karma and Upaasana to people of lower and middling intellect, while Jnana is taught to those of higher intellect.

Mysticism, scriptural knowledge, penance based Scholasticism are great hindrances to Self-realization. Inherited blind belief with corresponding actions based on scriptures, worship, the ritual faith which implies certain mental and physical discipline, or scripture supporting a belief, faith, creed, ritual, theological knowledge personal or opinion leads to hallucinated knowledge.  All these become a great hindrance in grasping the understanding, assimilating, and realizing the Advaitic or non-dual truth.

Scriptural mastery including ancient Sastras, Tarka, Samkhya disciplines to support Karmas & belief Bhakti Argument & interpretation with help of logic, grammar, etc. to support beliefs, revelations, prayers, etc. Also, dogmas, theological or other based on authorities.

Yoga, Silence, meditation, rituals, and devotion are based on the false self and false experience does not yield the truth one seeking because the truth is beyond false self [ego] and false experience [universe]. Mysticism is based on individual experience. The self is not individual because the self, which s in the form of consciousness, pervades everything and everywhere in all three states. Blind beliefs without verification and argument and interpretation on the base of the false self, are not verified knowledge, therefore, it is not the truth.

That is why Mundaka Upanishad says:~The rituals and the sacrifices described in the Vedas deal with lower knowledge. The sages ignored these rituals and went in search of higher knowledge. ... Such rituals are unsafe rafts for crossing the sea of samsara, of birth and death. Doomed to shipwreck are those who try to cross the sea of samsara on these poor rafts. Ignorant of their own ignorance, yet wise In their own esteem, these deluded men Proud of their vain learning go round and round Like the blind led by the blind.

And also in Isa Upanishads indicates that:By worshiping gods and goddesses and going to the world of gods after death is of no use.  The time one spends in ritualistic practices is wasted; one can spend the same time moving forward towards Self-knowledge, which is the main goal. One cannot reach the non-dual destination by glorifying gods and goddesses and by doing that, one goes deeper and deeper into darkness. It surely indicates the fact that the seeker of truth has to drop the worshiping god and goddess in order to get Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

It also indicates that Religious Rituals (Avidya) are Karma (action) and therefore a hindrance. Performing Agnihotra and other sacrifices [Avidya] is a roundabout way of purifying the mind, and it is also groping in the dark.

In addition, it indicates that karma is limited only to religious rituals, not to the whole human life. This karma theory based on human conduct must have been adopted from Buddhism and other theories based on human conduct.

When it says: Perform the obligatory karmas without any attachment to the fruits, and at the same time worship gods and goddesses, again without any desire to go to heaven - then you can get the benefit of both, liberation and bliss. For those who are not yet ready to renounce, this path is recommended, it means that the religion and its idea of god and goddesses and code of conduct, and its rituals are meant for the mass who are incapable of thinking of the beyond.

In addition, it also speaks of heaven the abode of gods, where one goes after death, and it speaks of rebirth, this contradiction, seeker has to conclude that the religion, rituals god and its code of conduct are meant for the ignorant populace that is not receptive to Self-Knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana. :~Santthosh Kumaar

The dream illustration is the best illustration to know the waking experience is also as unreal as a dream.+

The dream illustration is the best illustration to know the waking experience is also as unreal as a dream.  The dream was experienced without the physical apparatus as a whole.  The dream entity and dream world were within the dream.  The dream appeared as a whole and disappeared as a whole.

A deeper self-search reveals the fact that waking also is also similar to a dream. The waking is a parallel dream and the dream is parallel waking.   The formless substance and witness of the dream and waking are one and the same.

The Self is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity but the formless witness of the three states. Therefore, it is necessary to make sure the existence of the formless witness which is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity.

The waking also is witnessed without the physical apparatus, because the waking is still on. And the waking entity perceives the world as a reality within the waking experience.  Thus, the waking entity is in ignorance, and it experiences the illusory duality as reality.

The individual experiences of birth life, death, and world experience as reality within the waking experience. But the waking experience itself is merely an illusion from the standpoint of the Soul, which is the witness of the coming and going of the three states.

Only when the waking entity gets rid of the ignorance through deeper self-search than it becomes aware of the fact that, the self is neither the waking entity nor the dream entity, but the self is the Soul, the Self.

If one realizes the fact that,  the mind which is in the form of the universe is a mere mirage created out of the soul, which is in the form of consciousness and there is absolutely no difference between the mind and the Soul because they both are one in essence.

Man and his experience of the world are within waking experience. the waking experience is a    mere mirage created out of consciousness. The physical existence, which is present in the form of a waking experience is falsehood.

Just as in the dream universe appears to exist outside the body, but is inside the mind. It appears to be outside because of ignorance, and the illusion is experienced as reality. For just as when one wakes up after a dream, all the people, towns, mountains, and ocean of the dream are then known to be inside his mind, it was only ignorance, which placed them outside his-self.

The whole universe is created out of consciousness, and the universe which appears in the form of the mind is a myth.  Birth, life, death, and the world are experienced within the mind.

People think the mind is confined to be a little thing like one's brain.  A deeper self-search reveals the fact that it is not so. The mind is the whole universe in which man exists and experiences his individual experience of birth, life, and death.

The form, tine, and space are reality within the illusory universe. The universe appears as a waking or dream.  The three states are merely an illusion from the ultimate standpoint.

People are unprepared to accept the truth because they are in the grip of ignorance.  Most people will never accept the truth because they have accepted their physical identity as the self and practical life within the practical world as reality.

It is very difficult to trace the source of the universe without understanding what is the mind?'.  One has to know the fact that; the mind and the universe appear together and disappear to gather. If the mind is there then only the universe is present. If the mind is absent then the universe is also absent. Thus one has to conclude the mind itself is the universe.

In deeper self-search one becomes aware of the fact that the mind is not within the body, but the body and the experience of the universe are within the mind. It is erroneous to limit the mind to the physical entity and think the mind is within the body.

If, the whole body is scanned only one can see the functions of all the organs, but it is impossible to trace the mind because the mind is not only the person but also the universe.  Until this truth is assimilated it is impossible to move deeper in pursuit of truth.

In sleep, it is quite blank. Similarly, if one looks into a seed, he does not see the tree there. Nevertheless, both the world and the tree are developments from ignorance and seed.  Thus ignorance is the seed of the universe. If the truth revels then there is neither ignorance nor the universe. :~Santthosh Kumaar

A, U, M & “OM”.+

A, U, M  &  “OM”.

The word AUM has been chosen because it is a short easily remembered syllable. The separate sounds of the word are symbols, nothing more. The combination of these three-letter sounds in one word symbolizes the world's unity.

The three divisions of time--past present and future--are also symbolized. Moreover, AUM contains three letters and Atman contains three states. Finally, just as it requires four quarters to merge and make up a whole unity, so A, U, and M are three of these quarters.

A: When one thinks of himself as seeing the waking experience; but when he thinks of the self apart from that self is  Atman.

U: he regards himself as being in the dream. This is a higher idea because he knows that a universe is an object to the subject which is Atman.

M: When one understands that through deep sleep he can measure all else, that all other things (and the sounds A and U symbolizing them) merge back into a deep sleep, are all found in it, and re-appear from it. This is a still higher degree.

Even if one takes any language he likes, he finds that A involves the opening of the mouth whereas M involves shutting it. Now all sound implies soundlessness because it begins from that and ends with that. Hence, the two always go together.

Similarly, the knower and Known go together to form Brahman and are always present together although we do not usually recognize it. AUM= Turiya: This is not a state, as the ignorant Orthodoxy think.

This word includes all three sounds, which have merged into it. So the waking merges in a dream, the latter in sleep, and all three in AUM. The latter is a unity, nevertheless, it contains a trinity. Thus, when the word is made the subject of intelligent reflection, such meditation becomes a great help to the attainment, as Advaitins says, for it thus becomes an examination of the whole of life.

Sounds imply names, names imply objects, and objects imply the whole world. "Au" is the beginning of all sounds, "uM" is the end of all sounds, and even other sounds are included within them, i.e. within AUM.

Whatever may come in the future, whatever object existed in the past, whatever thing you can think of in the present--all these are included in the single word AUM  because all are named, hence are ideas, hence within the single mind.

The word is a mnemonic purposely invented to give men in one short syllable, in the smallest compass, a handy reminder that everything--this table, your neck-tie, that cow,--is of one and the same essential character. Every time any object is seen, you utter Aum and thus remember that it, and all other things, are the self. Every object in the external world is indicated by a name. Hence the phrase "the universe consists of names and forms.” All names are but words. As soon as a word is uttered, what does your mind do? A thought comes. Now all these words in every language, all these sounds, all these thoughts, are compressed into the one word Aum; which also enables all objects to be comprehended by the Mind as being ideas. Hence, this word is unique. Nothing exists which is outside the scope of referential meaning AUM.

Aum, therefore, is the whole of existence, the universe. But why is this specific word Aum chosen for such a high office? Take the first letter "AH". It is the sound phonetically uttered by the mouth when it first opens. "UM" is the sound it utters when at last it closes. Hence, all sounds, without a single exception must be comprised between the opening and shutting of the lips, i.e. between "AH" and "UM" and as Brahman is silent, so ultimately the AUM disappears with the sounding of "UM" into silence because the mouth must then shut. You have to use words to denote things and objects. You have to use letters to form words. The word AUM summarizes all other words. Finally, even this word disappears when the sound of it goes. So letting go of AUM is to make you drop the whole world and make you think of Brahman. Thus, the mystery of AUM is wrapped in the meaning of words. Semantics aim at clarifying meanings but AUM ultimately shows you that all words are futile because they cannot express the ultimate nature of anything: Silence alone does this.

One cannot produce any sound without opening the mouth and the first sound he utters while opening the mouth is A. Thus A is said to pervade all sounds. A is considered to be the symbol of the universe because all objects are indicated by ideas, all ideas are indicated by sounds, and all sounds are pervaded by the letter A.

When we utter the word "sound" how can we understand the meaning of sound? It is only by distinguishing it from soundlessness that we can understand sound. All sounds are got from soundlessness. Similarly, all the states are got from the Turiya, corresponding to soundlessness. We have to merge the waking into dreams, then merge the dream into a deep sleep. And finally, we have to merge even this into Turiya.

AUM is conceived as the whole universe, which has got four quarters. How can one know that the universe and the Self-(Soul) are identical? The answer is "Look into his -self--the Atman.” This Atman has also four corresponding quarters.

When one utters the word AUM, the waking comes before him: when he thinks of the dream, the dream states come before him, and so also with sleep. Thus, every time he utters the word AUM the three states come before him.

Meditation on symbols is meant for dull and mediocre intellects. When we utter the word AUM we must think of the three states and also of the Atman.

Aum is a sound, how can it be an elephant? "All sounds" means all objects or entire Brahman.

Anything which is thought is an idea, and hence a superimposition. Aum is the substratum of all the words. It is the word of Atman. Aum stands for the sound and not the letter which is found in all languages. It sums up all the sounds in all the languages. As upon the mind, everything else is superimposed, so upon the Aum, everything else is superimposed.

The sound has for its substratum or substance one’s own Self. It comes from and disappears into the self, which is Atman.

Remember:~

All this baggage is not necessary for the pursuit of truth. The seeker has to find and realize “What is the mind?” and “What is the substance of the Mind?” "What is the source of the mind?" nothing else to unfold the mystery of the physical existence (universe).  The individual experiences happening within the universe, such as birth, life and death, and pain and pleasure are nothing to do with the Self, which is consciousness. Thus, it is necessary to know the self is formless to realize the fact that, the burden of the human is not on the body but it is the Self (Soul or consciousness), which the religionists call God.

Thus, consciousness alone is real.  The human and the universe are merely an illusion created out of consciousness. Know the Soul as the Self,  then one becomes free from experiencing the illusion [birth, life, death, and the universe] as reality. :~Santthosh Kumaar
